people at my school got scammed of cfw

so the other day I decided to bring my 3ds to school and it was around lunchtime, so I started playing it and my friend goes "wtf how did you get all this stuff" then I go "yup it's hecked, want me to do it to yours" so when I got home I did the dsiware crud since he was on 11.6 and dhdgdisjdhdgdisjneyeggd you know what happens. So the next day I give my friend his 3ds back, and right when he gets it he starts bragging about in front of everyone. I kinda thought it was a bit annoying but whatever. about a week passes by and since i walk to school, I saw a kid who looked like he was maybe in 3rd or 4th grade and he was on his 3ds and so i peeked over at it and he apparently had freeshop so i replied "oh you have cfw, cool" then he says "yup, dis older boi got it on here 4 meh, he made me pay $40 tho" and I was thinking "wait, shouldn't cfw be free and always free" I was about to tell him he should get his money back but it was too late, so later in the day I tell my friend that a little kid got scammed of cfw and wouldn't you know my friend says "yeah I think I got a little kid cfw yesterday for $40* I was suprised that he probably already knew about plailects guide or just followed a tutorial on youtube. I asked if he did it to any other people and apparently he did and he's made a profit off of about 20 other people.

he hasn't been my friend since

(just in case if you're wondering yes everyone got their money back)

At old school, we had a whole lunch table full of hacked 3DS's, about 6-7 people (the tables aren't that big). The school police officer eyeballed us pretty often...

Father, i am a sinner, as your faithful prayer i need to confess that:

when i was younger, i installed CMOS for a kid and i asked for

50 euro...

now tempers, you can shot me!

Wow... I gave... 3 people CFW at my school. I didn't charge them anything. In fact, I did it right there in front of them. Thank God for NTRBOOT!

Have you ever thought that he charges for the services and not for the CFW? it's called business. Now, if he charges for the installation of any game, that would be ilegal.

It still isn't fair. Don't charge someone for something that you can do for free. (Unless you have to buy the DSiWare game... but still.

Don't charge someone for something that you can do for free.
There are places that charge for parts and nothing else, it is hard to do though.

Or if you prefer the time is money.
Equally something is worth what someone else is willing to pay and it seems the kids at school are willing to pay that.

Now that I think about it, the computers in the office are paid by the company, that also pays the internet service, electricity and heating, even the coffee I drink.
In other words the work I do "doesn't cost me money", "I can do it for free".
Damn, how could I've been so cunning. I should ask my boss they stop paying me my salary. /s

@TotalInsanity4
Technically he could argue that he was selling his time work involved in hacking the 3DS, which is not illegal.

40$ is what an adult in my country with college degree make a month, and this kid make 20 times of that in few day? Fuck capitalism.

@Lilith Valentine That would be one heck of a case to argue, and although I can't find legal precedent for it, something tells me it wouldn't end up in his favor

Bruh, my friend hacked my 3ds and some others for free. But then my freind wanted his and he was gonna not charge him nothing except for shipping. (He lives in Ny and im canada. Doh) so i see nothing really wrong unless he pirated it. Now i remember i have to finish my bro using the Sudoku exploit

@anhminh a college degree may give you some specialized knowledge and perhaps a higher social status, but it doesn't grant you good money. If you wanted money go rob a bank.

"If you wanted money go rob a bank."
Or charge someone $40 to install custom firmware. They are equally the same.

People can shoot at me all they want but i've done numerous CFW installs for people simply because they literally do not want to take any risk (even if there really is no risk involved) at all. Anyone else I just point them to a guide so they can do it themselves.

Now the point where people say "don't charge for something you can do for free unless you have to buy x"; ever heard of the saying time is money? I spend time that I could be doing something more fun or useful for myself on someone else. Think about it.
Nothing in life is free except the sunrise and the air you breathe. Good luck getting around doing everything for free, people will walk over you and abuse it.

i don't charge obscene amounts though

To clarify; I don't make people pay for CFW, they pay for the time I spend.

@DBlaze Do you also charge people for the time you spend with them? Time is money. You can't give attention away for free. Capitalism Bitch.

@SG854 ofcourse I do. (that was sarcasm)

You understood what I meant, i'm not going to "work" for someone else and do it for free, especially when I clearly tell them how they can do it themselves and then still rather have me do it.
