Poképals for the 5th Generation! (1)

NEWS:
Both procastination and college matters ended up delaying the Let's Play... by a lot.
Those of you new here can see the unintentional advertisement: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=284632
Anyways, Team Daishoori ended up losing the Pokémon Black cartridge, but I hope that either the game is found or I use my "Dudley's influence" to get Team Daishoori Pokémon White before Holy Week vacation is almost gone; Team Daishoori would have to catch up a lot, not because of me (who stopped to clear backlog AND to permit catch-ups), but because Team Base got badges already. Please do not worry about me forgetting stuff, though; I wrote an outline of my adventures for thought organization.

By the way, here is my current progress for the curious. This WILL contain spoilers for those reading the Let's Play!

March 19 - Night
Pizza, television, and newness combined to form a struggle among Clan PokéPals. In fact, Team Seung and Daishoori have yet to get their Liberty Passes! Even so, we managed to get start our games for real at the same time. We carried fair synchronization in the beginning, us naming our trainers in relative time with each other. I named my male trainer "Gap" ("armour" in Korean), yet I do not know how the other teams customized their trainers. There seems to be evidence that Team Daishoori got a female trainer, though...

More on the personal state of affairs, my game essentially played the same way of the previous games. Professor Juniper talked about the Pokemon World, the two genders appear in stock-art mega-portraits, and I am led to the naming screen. (Switching screen gave me a more pleasant sound effect, though my biggest surprise was the "qwerty" keyboard. I secretly wish for one-handed Dvorak, but that is virtually impossible without personal hacking. Even so, I kept with the old-style naming screens.) After full-body portraits and slightly more detailed descriptions of my rivals (in which Bel/Belle was renamed "Bianca" with Cheren staying the same, I was off!

Instead of immediately warping to my room, I was treated to a delightful intro with the words "Pokémon Black" fading in, all with Pidoves flying from angled shots of Nuvema Town. (Those remind me of thos Pokémon Fire Red/Leaf Green mock-up shots...) Belle and Cheren were rushing into Gap's room, hoping to get their gifts. Naturally, since we are in Gap's room, Gap should be the one to get the first Pokémon. After Professor Juniper's "ganbatte" letter, I saw the present box unwrap to reveal three Pokéballs, giving a slightly impressive view of the Pokémon inside at the top screen. According to my previous plans, I picked Snivy (Tsutaarja), the Grass Pokémon.
...yes; I picked "Excalibur".

After this, Belle picked Oshawott (Mijumaru), the Water Pokémon, leaving Cheren with his original choice, Tepig 1pokabu), the Fire Pokémon. But of course, since we have our starter Pokémon, we should battle!

Cheren: "No! They would leave a mess on the whole place!"
Belle: "It's good practice! Besides, they are too weak to make any real damage."

After that, complete with "Epic Portraits", Gap proceeds to battle Belle... who has trouble getting the ball out of her bag! (Snivy has an advatage over Oshawott... How clever of the designers...) Of course, one thing I learned from playing Pokémon for a long time is that, in these starter battles, always pick the damaging move, which, in Snivy's case, is Tackle. The battle went relatively normally, save for Belle exclaiming "Ouch!" after the first Tackle. (Seriously... HER getting hurt for her Pokémon?)

When the battle ended, though, the room was covered by a huge fight-cloud... which faded to a hilariously ruined room. (...but how can those two even walk on the walls? I seriously think that the damage should have been much less!) Belle took a bit of time to notice the mess... then laughed off the situation. Cheren just went "Pokémon Centre" on the two of them then gave Gap a more callenging battle (again with the "Epic Portraits"). Sure, they both have Normal moves, but Tepig none the less made me nervous. This seems to be justified: they essentially exchanged Tackles (Cheren giving a bit of commentary during the first Tackle). Fortunately, Snivy's last Tackle managed a critical hit to my relief, managing Gap the victor. This time, though, the damage stayed the same. Despite the big and obvious damage inside the room, they all decided to go downstairs...
...but not before Gap noticed the lack of damage his Wii got.

Downstairs was a typical afair. Gap's mother gave us the usual: the report, the bag, and so on. What was a surprise was the X-Tranceiver (which I keep forgetting to read "cross" instead of "X"), which allow chatting. Hn...

...oh, the messy room? Gap's mother will fix everything. Either Gap's mother does not know about our not-really-little accident or the programmers are imposing a discriminatory message...

Please give critique on the Let's Play itself; this is new to me.

Question: Is "Gap" a good first/given name for a Korean boy? (If I am mistaken, I can always go for the "Ichigo" explanation...)
