So incase anyone cared since my last blog post (The one complaining about USPS) I ordered a Power bank.
Now I will give my assessment. Is called the Anker 20100mAH Power bank, and it uses a USB - C cable as you can see and it works okay. I bought this after noticing my Laptop and the Nintendo switch uses this kind of thing, but is also possible to use with USB A ports. You use a USB Connection to charge it and the same USB C or USB A for your devices, there is another that uses USB micro but looks alike, so beware of the difference in looks.
Anyway this works. I wanted to make sure it works like i wanted. So I used my nintendo switch until the power was at 50%. Then with a full charge of the powerbank, I plugged it in, set the switch brightness to Full power, turned on wifi, and started playing Breath of the wild ( A game known to suck the battery faster than you can lose at dark souls (Insert audience laughter here)
Guess what, using the usb cable it charges the battery! Full brightness, wifi on, even with joycons charging and disconnected (I assume the added bluetooth uses more power as well as charging the battery of the joycon) It charges. It does take a while but it charged. The system was very hot and the air vent was very active (As it always is) But YES IT CHARGES! Not slowly discharge, but recharge, Number goes UP!
Well yeah I kinda stressed the fact it works a lot just to make sure you understand my excitement. I wanted to try it in other things, for example, the switch dock, doesn't work. How fun would it be for a portable power source for the switch dock? Doesn't work, it specifically request to use the official nintendo ac adaptor. It was a nice thought though. Also Is 20100mAH, not sure how much measurement of time it is, but if i have to say it maybe could last 12 hours on a full charge before reaching zero, I didn't really count, just estimated. If anyone knows of a good timer, please inform me and I will try to get more accurate. Not bad, for a game that uses a lot. But maybe the fact is 20100mAH could maybe be a bit more, but I dunno.
My laptop also has a usb c port. Not sure if it was used for charging the battery or maybe just standard data transfer, I don't have any other devices for usb c but the switch. So is just there for now. Still got 3 usb c ports. I would recommend this at a lower price than the one it sells for but then again If you do play this game a lot in portable mode, I would maybe try and get one with a higher charge last. Is probably good enough for maybe a bathroom break, a work day, but not a vacation without anywhere to charge the powerbank. You can also use all 3 ports to charge you devices at the same time, completely safe to do, no consequences. When the device fully charges the powerbank shuts off to prevent any problems as long as the device isn't using power. Anyway, hope this help some people out there, maybe I'll do more quick look on products in future. Link below if you wish to purchase.
