recent goings on with my retro games collecting

not been picking up too much recently, I have actually be getting rid of some of my spare systems etc to clear up some room as it got a bit ....well messy :P

but I digress, I think its time for a lil update on the goings on, while I haven't had too much new stuff, I did recently finally get some box protectors for some of my SNES/N64/GB/A games, I have been putting this off for such a long time on the grounds that I really didn't feel like paying nearly £2 a protector for a "silly bit of plastic" but alas I finally got some at an acceptable price (worked out at about 80p per box protector which was fairer)

so yeah, overall the quality was pretty good considering the much cheaper price than what most sellers are after, I had a few that a friend had given me from some of the £2 per box guys and quality wise, sure they are slightly thinner but I feel they are a nicer fit and still offer sufficient sturdiness and I plan to get some more soon™ as I quickly discovered its harder to cherry pick what games deserve a box between keeping game any games in really good condition in top condition and protecting the most expensive titles, but yeah I could do with some more.

so there we have it, that's my "recent goings on" thanks for reading :)

That's quite a fantastic collection you have there GQ1! I see some really rare good numbers in there, mainly> Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island, Turtles in Time (fantastic game if I remember), Super Ghouls & Ghosts of course Mario 64 & Yoshi's Story, some specials there.

You should do a whole new blog on all your oldies, everything, pictures the lot!. That would be very interesting to me & others I would of thought :)

Jet force Gemeni is one of the best games from my childhood,
I played it a few weeks ago and I realized how much the controls suck.

@Reecey yeah I always thought people doing these kinds of blog posts were a bit show offish, which let be honest you have to be I'm not going to pretend there isn't a element of "showing off" :P, but on the other hand I feel like its better to share a more down to earth viewpoint as I know often people can be a little bit elitist in the retro collecting/gaming scene, I don't shy away from saying I don't have mega bux to be dropping hundreds on games I want, instead I'm much more happy to wait a whole year to pick up Zelda alttp boxed in meh condition for £20 rather than just go on ebay and buy one that's in kinda ok condition for £60 boxed, and gbatemp has turned up a few gems (some featured in that picture) so its just a matter of me waiting for the games to arrive at a price I'm happy a pay than just throwing money at it

@DeoNaught yeah I have found that a lot on games, going back to resident evil recently on the ps1 I was like ....urrrgh tank controls, but after a little while playing the "bad" controls kinda disappears and you just accept it as it is

@DinohScene yeah I initially was collecting cart only games, just because it was cheaper, but I really do like having CIB games if I can, especially with games I like, I also have a few factory sealed games (all the N64 ones in the picture are sealed except Yoshi's story but that's a section of collecting I really don't want to dabble in as its wayyyyy too pricey :P

@gamefan5 thanks, that's probably most of my costly/rarest/best condition snes/n64 stuff but there is still a lot not shown, I do plan to do more posts showcasing stuff a bit better, but focusing on clearing out stuff I'm not too fussed on collecting for first to make room, stuff like Atari/commodore 64 etc I mainly like focusing on NES/SNES.....but generally Nintendo systems

@gamesquest1 . I totally agree with you! I find personally the old games are much more valuable to me, not so much in money terms but more sentimental value purposes. I love keeping some of the old classics I never play them anymore but I just like to look at them and I have that feel good factor. As long as it makes you happy and me as well then that's what matters. I'm sure you have some real treasures at yours I can imagine :)

Edit: I have a few original NES titles at mine but nothing compared to your collection ;)

yeah as I like to say, it's better than smoking/drugs/drinking every day and I can get my money back at the end of it :P
