SATs Tomorrow

Got my SATs tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous but I'm still confident that I'll score pretty well on it. The only part I'm concerned about is the essay portion since I'm definitely not a great writer but otherwise, I think I'll do pretty well. I need to get at least a 1000 to get into the college I want (Math and Critical Reading only) so I'm not sure if that is a lot of pressure or not since I don't know exactly how they score. 5 hours for 3 parts though...and I got to get up early :( But wish me luck and hope I do well!

Ah... good times.
Enjoy your early morning test and good luck. Getting at least 1000 on the SAT should be easy.

Anyone got tips? Same here for the s.a.t and same problem. Not much of a writer.

Heres my advice: taking it for the 1st time 2morrow, but I've gotten a 2000 on my mock.

For the essay, use concrete examples, no hypotheticals, and try to avoid personal examples unless they have real relevance and really work. Try to avoid grammer and spelling mistakes b/c they build up if you have alot.

For critical reading make sure you read all of it, an annotate. Find shift words, and other important things in the piece, like main idea and topic. It makes it easier to find when you do the questions.

Math, read the questions carefully.

Writing - do the same thing as math, you have to be really careful, a decent number of these are no error, but they attempt to make you think they aren't.

Thats all the knowledge i know and can impart.

Thanks alot for the encouragement guys! And thanks IchigoK2031, I'll keep those tips in mind as I'm testing.

Good luck Rock Raiyu! I take mine tomorrow as well but hell, right now I'm shitting bats. I hear form some people it's just a matter of being careful and reading the question thoroughly... Anyways, good luck to everyone!

Good luck with it Rock Raiyu ^^ Hopefully you'll rape the exam with your knowledge. 8D

I found them to be pretty easy, just relax and get sleep tonight. Honestly, the hardest part for me was getting up so early on a weekend

G
Good luck with them i hope you get on well.

i remember the SAT...good times.

The advice i would give is play it safe, and get enough sleep. I personally wouldn't recommend a breakfast, it can make you feel queezy if you think a lot on a full stomach. So basically just some water, or stimulant.

For the test itself.

Essay: DON'T FORGET THE TITLE, read the topic well, and stay of topic. I presume you know how to write a developed essay, thesis statement, topic sentence, conclusion etc. Stick to that, even IF you happen to mess up with the essay, the graders basically will look it if you actually know how to write an essay.

Math: If you have done some practice lessons, and found them hard, trust me its much more easier. Some questions are hard, and some are literally like "wtf, why is this so easy". Basically solve as much as you can.

Critical Reading: As IchigoK2031 said look for the main ideas, and try reading it all. NOTE: in most of the questions they tell you which lines to refer to, so that can save you some time. Reading the topic sentences, and doing some skimming can help as well.

Other than that, i wish you good luck, and i hope you get the college you want or need. Enjoy your days of school, you only begin to appreciate things when you leave them, that probably sounded cheesy, but you'll get what i mean when you get to college.

Good Luck again.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys and all of the wonderful tips! It's now Judgment Day and I'm about to head out. I'll tell you how it goes when I get back!
