Serious ( Internet threatening ) problem, need help.

Welp, time for another episode of Life with Lcie.
so....up next is my latest problem. in just under a week, the network i'm using will be applying a network filter. this will block EVERYTHING, except what the guys in charge want unblocked, and I have no solution around it. Supposedly, it's VPN proof, and beond that, I have no clue how to bypass it. so, I either find a loophole, or I say goodbye to my GBAtemp and Discord access. Also, Moblile data is too expensive to consider, and I live 30 minutes away from the closest source of Wi-Fi. Any ideas ?

I usually stick with something free like Turbo VPN, but that's not gonna cut it here.
also, the L'Cie part is from Type 0, not FF 13

Its weird they would block gbatemp, unless your located in the middle east. I don't think anything is VPN proof though

It might not be easy, but either you get a portable hotspot or a new job.

I guess you're located on a campus right? And they most likely want to clamp down on piracy as most universities and schools do. Just check if port 943 is open and you will be fine. It's the standard OpenVPN port that most VPN providers use.

Just because it was stated repeatedly, I thought I should clarify the idiotic misinformation about VPNs. A VPN will NEVER be able to bypass blocks from the ISP for one simple reason, the connection works like this: Your computer<->ISP's servers<->VPN servers (if using one)<->World Wide Web

Did you think that using a VPN made your cables go to some other country with magic or something?:P VPN just hides you from the point past your ISP's servers, but the ISP can clearly see what you are doing regardless of if you are using one.

^ Don't listen to ThoD since he got no idea how a VPN tunnel works.

So let me explain in a more, easy setup.

First:
Your computer run for example a VPN Client, it calls your VPN providers to start a tunnel.
Computer (Encrypted connection) - ISP (they can't see what you are doing except which port you're going against since it's using a encryption) - VPN provider

Second:
VPN provider replies back with the tunnel information, so you access the internet through them like so
VPN Provider - Your ISP - Computer, all is still encrypted. Your ISP can't see what you're doing still, only the port numbers.

Third:
Now that you established a VPN tunnel, you can access the internet more freely. Use whatever software etc. you want that the VPN provider allows since everything goes through an encrypted tunnel.
Example

Your computer with VPN and you start bittorret download - Your ISP, they block bittorrent - VPN provider - The internet. But since your ISP can't see WHAT you do in the VPN Tunnel, they can't block your bittorrent connection since the traffic just goes over a VPN with high encryption so good luck trying to decrypt them on the fly. Most of them use a 2048 bit encryption.

A little correction. In order to establish the VPN tunnel, the data that is encrypted on your part at the start (or the VPN's side depending on which one you are using) get sent (while still encrypted) but the decryption key HAS to be sent WITHOUT any encryption, beating the whole purpose as it can be salvaged from the first bits of data sent if the ISP so wishes to. So again, if the ISP wants to know what you are doing, they can and will know.

You still have no idea how a VPN works right? They have no possible way to decrypt it. The handshake is fully encrypted. A "hello" is established between the provider and you. Encryption is pointless if someone can view the connection between you and your recipient.

Thod, please view this so you can understand how a VPN works -

I don't believe this for a second, unless as linuxares said, you're on a campus or something. Please give us a sauce on your info cause I really wanna hear them motivate that shit.
