Tales of Graces F

I was actually able to find a copy of this game in EB Games today. (In case you can't tell, I go to EB Games a lot).

Anyways, they only had one copy in the store. It was used, but let's be honest, when it comes to PS3 games, who cares? Xbox and Wii games get scratched, PS3 games don't. And with Wii and 3DS games, you want the points (well at least I do). Hell, most of my PS3 collection is mainly pre-owned.

Back to the game. I'm only an hour or so in. Well I'm at the part where I just got back to the manor after arriving in the town. Now, I was a huge fan of Tales of Vesperia. I absolutely loved that game. The voice acting, the graphics, battling, story, everything about the game. I even downloaded the movie. And I'm trying Tales of Graces F after taking a break from Borderlands 2 (I was dying waaaay too much and I was not happy that I kept losing so much money).

I'm really digging this game so far. I really like the graphics, and the opening cutscene with the music was great. The battling I'm having trouble getting used to, mainly pulling off combos, but I'll get used to it. Unlike Tales of the Abyss, I have no idea what the hell is happening in that game, and the voice acting just keeps throwing me off, and the battling I can't figure out for the life of me.

I really like the smooth pastel type art style they used, it's so appealing to me. I can only imagine that it gets better.

By the way, does anybody know if it's worth purchasing Tales of Vesperia for the PS3? I mean, I don't know japanese, and I don't know if westerners can even play the game. Is it in english, or what?

ToV PS3 is all japanese. I think there's a translation patch being made, but I have no idea. It's basically the same as the 360, with an alright new character, Flynn being playable, and a new secret dungeon. EDIT: Plus you'd need a modded PS3 to even use the translation patch, should it come out.

The big thing about Graces, is don't spam atacks. Since everything takes your TP, you have to actually wait for it to regen.
I'm assuming you haven't gotten to your B-artes yet. Once you do, combat opens quite up a bit more. Though still the same thing, can't spam.

Damn, I was hoping like, Tales of Vesperia was worth the import. But since I don't know Japanese... fuck it.

And yeah, I'm slowly getting used to the combat. Still finding it difficult to time perfect combos though.

Spoiler Free Tips:

1 - When you get to the Adult portion of the game (I mean when the characters you play as aren't kids, not porn), do NOT get use to controlling Richard. You'll thank me later.

2 - When you can play as Hubert in Adult form, specialize in him. He's by a looooong shot the strongest and most versitile character a human player can use.

3 - There is minimal experience point difference between Easy and Normal all the way through the game, and Hard only starts giving a lot more on the very last segment. Play on Easy if you just want the story.

4 - I passionately hate Cheria. Not story related at all, just saying if you hate her at the start, you'll likely hate her all the way until the end.

5 - After the game "ends", play the newly unlocked Epilogue from the Main Menu screen. It's about 15 more hours that continues the story, and ties up a lot of loose ends.

Xuphor you borked 3.
There's 0 experience difference between difficulties, if you levelled faster on hard... it wouldn't be harder.
You get way, way, way less ...forgot what it was called... 'points' for your titles. Your characters develop soooooo slowly. My sister was playing on easy for ages and it was just a joke, none of her characters had any skills.

I hate to break it to you, but Bluray discs are much more prone to scratches. This is because the data is stored on a tighter pattern than DVDs. Even a small scratch can damage a lot of data when compared to a DVD.

I've been meaning to play more tales of games. I'm a huge fan of JRPGs.

Well yeah. They make it harder to scratch because they're much more prone to data loss from even the smallest scratches.
