Um, no. Maybe you never read my very first blog post but I'm not going to be doing any "just picking" I want to get good, sturdy stuff for my all my Bros. as I feel they really deserve it and I promised it to them if they do their work, and I've got plenty of time to get it right.

But if you insist on poking your nose in everything I say or do on this site, you need'nt reply at all if you dont like what I discuss in my blog, and if you truly have nothing useful to say. I'm fairly sure that is the reason that mods/admins gave us blogs. For our individual needs and private purposes so we wont have to spam topic specific boards.

i've heard the AceKards are the next best thing so go for it.

After revising the reviews, I think that the AK2 is only lacking in that I need it to be physically sturdy as well. They're kids, my borthers (8,10 & 12) and they're studying abroad right now and I told them that if they do very well I'd get them all DS's and so far they're making steady progress and really working hard
so I'm trying to steadily formulate a solid plan. I recently busted up my savings jar and I've got nearly 50 bucks thus far and thats without a job. Hopefully I'll get a couple hundred in savings this summer to put towards their gifts.

Also I dont like that the AK2 has to have its cheats pieced together for it par game, or has that bit been fixed with an update since the GBAtemp review?

I would go with an AceKard as well, they are pretty good, decent price for their features and so on. Also for sturdy, well, its a flashcard and I don't see people taking them out of the DS that much. So you could always tell them to leave the AceKard inside the DS to keep ir protected and clean and just take the MicroSD card out as needed. Thats basicly what I do with all my flashcards and never had any problems with them.

Seems easy enough to me. Just point them to the cheat database in my sig and simply drag and drop the file into the cheats folder.

Yeah, I was thinking of this also. I really liked all the great things that I was hearing about the Cyclo and would choose that card for myself, but after thoroughly reading and reviewing the GBATemp official reviews and watching many price drops take place, and much reconsideration, I began to think that the EDGE was typically the next best thing. Some've said its a Cyclo Rip off which is comforting in an oddway. But I'm also hearing so many awesome things about the AK2 but the flimsiness and the cheats are a turn off.

They wont have access to a PC of any kind so I've got to perfect the bundles before I send them.

I'm still working on what sort of power adapter they'd need to charge their DS's because of the differences in the wattages/currents or whatnot.
But I know someone whose got a PS2 over their so I know its not impossible or too risky.

I would say go with the AceKard 2. Any flashcart you get is going to have a problem that you don't really like.The DSTT is a few buck cheaper now, but it's your decision. We can't exactly tell you which one to get because that would be going back and forth because of the mixed opinions for each. Out of the Edge, Acekard 2 and the DSTT, I would get the AK2. Are you really going to use cheats on all of the games now though? I'd have to agree with Urza though. There are plenty of topics+reviews to read.

well i had a friend who wanted to give a ds to his little brother, i gave him my old R4DS whenever he wanted new games he just gives it to me and i update it, maybe you should look for a simple flashcart they can use, pick up and play, you would be best off getting screen protectors for the ds lites you are going to give to the kids too just incase.

if you are going to get a ds lite from the usa you won't need a extra mains charger, but if you are going to import a ds from japan or somewhere else any mains charger will work, the voltage is universal, my ds is from the usa and i just use a UK plug to charge it.

I didn't mean to make some big public topic for everyone to come and get long and drawn out in. I like to write things down and so I decided a long time ago to track this particular subject online and after I joined GBAtemp and found it to be steadily great and I realized I had a Blog then I put the initiating post on this site, first in the forums, then I moved it to My Blog.

This serves as more of a note to myself to help me keep track than it does as an invitation to discussion.

At the time I didn't realize there wasn't a private/public toggle setting. If I'd known about some of the people that lurk on this site, I wouldn't have bothered *sigh* but I already made up my mind and wont be going back.

Anyway, I said in my very first post that I'd read the reviews and would go on a topic hunt for extra info.
