The Last Hope

So I've been playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope on my 360 the past 2 days and I have to say I'm really enjoying it the earlier bosses are really quite easy but the last 2 bosses I've faced DAYMNE what an annoyance!

Although the last "boss" I fought isn't technically a boss it's alike 8 rounds of fighting 5-6 of the same enemy, these wierd Humanoid like creatures (they're lifeless) called Phantoms and boy -_- are they annoying, they have leaders and soldiers and the leaders boost the enemies defence by an incredible amount, my charactersare in they're late 30's early 40's and the physicals are hitting for like 2-7 on a nomral hit , however any critacl hits do normal critical damage which is like in the 700-1000 range (yay me) even so I wiped 3 times before rethinking my strategy

So I ran alllllll the way back to The Calnus (my Spaceship) and went item making, made some buff food and some bombs/healing items (I never ended up using the bombs I forgot about them :rofl2:)
after that I rested up and ran aaallllllll the way back to the save point/healing point before this epic battle, along the way I gained some levels and some new moves :D yay me boosted my skills. Before entering the battle I used my buff foods, one food increased the experience earned by 20% (before taht the battles I previously won got me a full uhhh -_- Bonus Board with +90% EXP, +3%HP/MP(heals at end of battle) and +2Party SP (Skill Points), another buff food I gave to the wrong character -_- so one of my physicals ended up using 30% less MP to use her skills (I set her to Gang up and go all out :rofl dayme did she burn that mana) and my Healer after accidently giving her food to my physical I found a better food :D this food made my healer so she couldn't be targeted for 10 battles (FUCKING AWESOME, uninterupted heals!!!)

Now in Star Ocean you can have 4 people in a battle and yoou can control one of them at any one point my setup ended up being:
EDGE - Main Story Character - Physical Character but high defence and can heal himself/others.
Meracle - A Cat Girl - Physical character, runs around with big Claws doing lots of damage with criticals (she's like a thief type).
Reimi - Ranged Physical - Uses a Bow and has a VERY HIGH Crit rate, this is the character I controlled with the highest crit rating I can do a tonne of damage and control this particular battle.
Sarah - Symbolist (Magic User) - I set her to Keep out of trouble, and she basically stays back and heals everyone when needed and buffs our defence/ressurects (witht he buff food she got she couldn't be targetted by the enemy :))

So I went into this battle and with Reimi and Meracles high critical hits I utterly raped each battle Meracle died like 3 times but all was fine, it's incredible what a slight change in tactics/characters can do earned my party:
52217 EXP
7949 Fol (monies)
and a crap load of random items I'll probably never use/sell :rofl2:
ooooo haha I just noticed because I got ambushed 7 times (it happens with this 8 consecutive battles) I got another +200% EXP  awesome!

All in all after that battle my adreneline was pumping, damn this game is so much fun, before being victorious the 3 loses I made in that battle made me want to throw my 360 out the window but now I'm thinking this is going to be an all-nighter.

muhahahaa I hope you've enjoyed reading my random and slightly pointless ramblings :P

On another note I've applied for a few jobs today...well yesterday the one at my local Pizza Hut seemed pretty interested so here's to hping I'll FINALLY have secured a job.

For you Game Music lovers out there I'll leave you with a few of the soundtracks from Star Ocean.
The first 2 are a couple of my favourites and the 3rd is a little more light hearted and personally it makes me laugh abit  Enjoy :D

Star Ocean 4 was a great game, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Glad you're enjoying it. And yeah, that Phantom fight was so annoying. >.< Meracle's Claw's of Fury move is awesome, though. Use it with ATK boosts and stuff and you'll rape pretty much anything assuming it doesn't miss. xD

Oh, and this is my personal favorite song from the entire OST. It's the final dungeon music.

Still not dropping over 30 bucks for this game.

The story seems like a total joke, though gameplay looks fun.

The gameplay is actually not that great lol.
If you've ever played a Team Symphonia Tales game, it just feels like a really dumbed down version of any of 'em.

The story isn't too bad, but the gameplay mechanics really did just kill the game for me. I couldn't get over how crappy they felt.

I do have to compliment the bosses though. While easy, they usually look really cool.

Still ain't worth dropping over 30 bucks for it then.

Tales games are alright, although I prefer SMT games or any of SMT spinoffs in general.

Well yeah it's worth a rental.
I bought it day one thinking it'd be amazing and was crushed.

Last time I ever impulse-bought a game again.

ahhh I know this game isn't AWESOME!!!!! but I'm a Star Ocean fan and I'm really happy with it (love the combat system, healers are dumb though >.> wish I could set them to heal only)

I just beat Kokabiel :rofl2: man what an easy fight that was! All you have to do is stand there with 1 ranged character waiting for the yellow orb to appear then unleash a chain combo on the boss, I did run out of blackberries though (MP healing item) so I had to switch ranged chars and well everyone ran out of MP so I had to switch healers and everything XD was funny I was like OHNOES no heals gunna die........hmmmm not dead yet Switch heal, back to Reimi Crimson Squal (a skill) and done  ahhh love it!

I have to say though those wierd pheonix things on the way to Kokabiel are harder than Kokabiel itself -_- everytime I battled one I had to rush in to silence them :glare:

I had Last Hope when it first came out and I was enjoying it up to a boss which was firing huge and from what I can tell totally unavoidable lasers at me, killing me pretty much instantly. I got frustrated, lost interest in the level grind and just gave up on it. Traded it in towards something else shortly after.

I get that problem a lot. I'm suffering from it on Tales of Vesperia at the moment. Got to a fight against two bosses at the same time (will refrain from naming to evade spoilers) and I keep getting torn apart no matter what my strategy and setup. I was doing great until then, but all of a sudden the game's not fuckin' around any more, it wants me dead.
