The No. 1 thing I hate about the Wii U - Resistive touchscreen!

The GamePad comes with a stylus, which works well with the resistive touchscreen. But you don’t always want to pull out a stylus pen; sometimes you just want to press a button with your finger and get on with it. That’s not so good on this type of screen.

I own Pikmin 3 but I just refuse to play it because the gamepad sucks so bad with it. I use the nunchuck and wiimote to control the game, but you are a constantly required to put down the nunchuck (I'm left handed), pick up the stylus, then interact with the map to see where you want to go.

You can't simply use your finger to swipe and direct where you want to go because the touchscreen itself cannot handled this type of input. The map will erratically jump or won't move at all. The screen just plain sucks at using it accurately with just your finger.

Yep I just use my finger to press buttons and whatnot on the screen, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm asking about dextrous movements that are small and precise.

I think the OP meant you can use your finger for pressing on-screen buttons. But for tasks that require precision like drawing a path in Pikmin 3, the stylus is required.

Personally, I used my fingernail in Pikmin 3 instead of the stylus. My display has a screen protector so no issues. I would recommend getting a thumb stylus, it looks much easier to use.

I only want a Wii U when it can play 720p videos from my USB sticks, like WiiMC can with 480p videos on my Wii.

Capacitive: Pro - Multi touch, Con - Lag (sure it's smaller, but it's still there: it's the Kinect of touch screen)
Resistive: Pro - No lag. Company's Pro: cheaper to produce.

For Nintendo who still harp on about 60fps gaming, resistive is the better option: console games require a more direct input method than mobile phone games.

OP: That seems to be your problem only I'm afraid.... I'm not a small bloke, but have no problem using my finger to control the screen (Pikmin 3 included)

I hate that resistive screens have largely fallen out of favor. Sure, they are not that suited for multiple touch points, but their versatility for both finger and pen input still makes them my preferred input device for when an EMR digitizer like Wacom's is too expensive.

Well it looks like I am clearly in the minority so I'll go sit in the corner and grumble.

I also don't Like how there is no swarm command in pikmin. There is something similar but not as good.

I hate that smartphones don't come with a pen because whenever I press anything on it it brings up a different letter or action. Using a pen is a lot more precise for me.

But I prefer physical buttons over touchpads.

Why don't you just get a blu ray player or something that does that?

Anybody can do that... I prefer to get the most out of a single device. Having less devices with a single purpose hooked up to the tv, the better. Just my Wii alone takes the place of a DVD/MKV/MP4/AVI/MP3 player, a gamecube, a SNES, a Sega Genesis, a NES, and also lets me play various Gameboy games on my TV, all with one hookup. I am maximizing my Wii's potential to the fullest. I realize many people don't feel the same way, and like having a DVD player AND something like a PS2, but to me it just seems redundant, and goes against logic having two devices that do the same thing. :/

Your HDTV probably plays video files but you just aren't aware of it.

Check the internet for TV hacks. Do you have a Sammy?
