Ticket deleting ignoramuses

Ok people... Tell me this... Why the hell does everybody think they can just install all the .tik files at once????

There's over 1000 .tik files and the idiots, YES I CALLED Y'ALL IDIOTS, think "Hey I'll just install everything's and it will be ok."

It's not ok. Not at all. You have now bloated your Ticket.DB with countless useless .tik files. You cannot use the out of region .tik files. That cuts the number of usable .tik files in half. System, patches and Demos are basically useless. That takes out another third of the .tik files useless.

If you break it down by region there is about 300 USA game .tik files. About 150 EUR. And almost 100 other misc .tik files for other regions.

So please please please think twice before installing everything.

Also, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THE FBIv2 TICKET DELETION OPTIONS UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THAT CRAP.

Rant over. Y'all go home and think before doing something stupid.

G
I thought it would've been obvious that installing them all at once is a bad idea?

Obvious? Apparently not to everybody... I've done heard of too many people installing ALL of the .tik files and then some rare cases where people have actually deleted all the tickets from their 3DS, which even though it does not cause a brick it does make it where NOTHING works because nothing has permission to launch from home menu.

i downloaded a zip with loads of tickets, i just installed the ones i wanted...
(why dafuq i want videos tickets and demos?)
however the ticket folder glitched on my console (scrolling down at one point the fbi crashes)
and because i currently own a small sd card, just installed about 5 tickets

but installing all the tickets (for your region) pratically means you got eshop for free <3

It crashed because you possibly had too many items in one folder. Try separating the tickets down to smaller folders

yep, that seems the reason, it crashed at a specific point, i thought either too many files or a file with chinese\japanese characters..
anyway, i will only install the stuff i wanted, thanks for the warning

"You cannot use the out of region .tik files."

Yes you can, I downloaded the European version of Virtue's Last Reward via FBI with it on my US sysNAND.

Well I'll be damned. Well since my testing something has obviously changed. Me thinks it is the fact that more of the keys are correct now.

So now out of region works. That means I gotta change a few things that I've been claiming. Thanks for pointing it out @daxtsu

I did it out of curiosity mostly; the key site has QR codes that you can scan with FBI to install the ticket. Then you just install the game afterward from the ticket submenu.

Using GenTickets I generated only the EUR tickets and ended up with ~217 tickets, system titles, patches and regular demos are not included. Special demos and a few trailers were included.

It would be perfectly fine to install all of them at once and I'd say that as long as you're using a tool that ignores system titles, patches and demos and you only generate tickets for your region it's fine to do this.

You can't do much wrong by installing all the tickets though. Out of region stuff simply won't be downloadable from eShop, but if you install CIA versions of them they will use the same ticket anyway, and in-region system title tickets should match the tickets already in your system so they won't change anything.

Badly made CIAs clutter up your ticket.db more, since they're essentially invalid tickets with an incorrect title key.

Incorrect. Out of region tik files can be used. But again if you wanna be an ignoramus and install everything then be my guess. Just don't go whining to anybody saying "I don't know what I did wrong. Nobody told me not too"

@Xenosaiga You can't see the eShop page of an out of region title, and you need to see the eShop page to be able to download it because it doesn't show up in purchase history or redownloadable software.

I knew about that but thought it needed the .tik files themselves, not the installed tickets. Looks like he changed that just over a week ago. Homebrew is changing too fast for me to keep up lol.

Isn't it more "dangerous" to install stuff via tik/cdn vs cia? As in Nintendo being able to see illegal downloads from the eShop? I just don't use the ticket features at all because I'll never have a reason to re-download a game. I tried it with the Phoenix Wright Trilogy just to see how it worked (and it is pretty damn slick), then deleted the game and it's ticket.... but I'll just stick to cia's without grabbing/installing the tiks.

@D34DL1N3R People have been downloading content from CDN using FunkyCIA and CDNto3DS for ages and it doesn't seem like the file servers can tell the difference between legitimate and nonlegitimate, they just serve content and any client with the correct key can decrypt it. They could probably implement checks in the eShop itself that check your account purchases but that would mess with preinstalled titles. eShop already deletes DLC you don't own when you open it and if they wanted they could have been banning people for this for a long time but they haven't. Seems to me like they do the minimum effort necessary to prevent new users from pirating and consider existing pirates a lost cause, since they will continue pirating and even stay on old firmware and spoof if they have to, like many people on n3DS did (myself included) before support for 9.6+ emuNAND was added. Getting banned isn't going to stop them and that might be why Nintendo doesn't bother. That's just what I think though.

Personally, I have shit home wifi, and I really don't want to blow up my router because of it. But it's a neat system that turns official eshop into a warez site.

I'd stick to cias and games I've dumped and converted myself.
