Why "it's never going to happen" or "that's impossible" is the most annoying phrase in relation to hacking

I've been lurking this forum for about 6 and a half years, registered for ~5 years and this is a phrase I have seen so many times.

Remember how everyone thought that disc loading without a modchip for gamecubewii games was impossible?
Remember how people said that newer versions of the psp (and firmwares) would never be able to be hacked/the psp would die after Dark_alex left the scene?
Remember how people said ps3 hacking would be almost an impossibility?
Remember how people said that there probably will never be a truly good wii or gamecube emulator?
Remember how people said usb loading for wii and gamecube would be impossible?
etc/I'm sure this happened with systems before that too
Now all that's happened.

I wish people would stop saying that. It really is annoying, and it is always a person who most likely doesn't even know to code/hack/or even know the hardware and software too who is the first to say "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN". Even if it takes time (ps3 comes to mind) but eventually there is a 99.9% chance it will be hacked, especially if there is enough demand. It doesn't matter what it is, chances are it will happen.

Then, someone who says otherwise and remains hopeful I've seen people say it again to them making them seem like they shouldn't even bother remaining hopeful/thinking otherwise.

just my 2 cents.

i remember that everyone said that the gamecube or wii emulation was impossible,

technological progression is what will never stop , so even the wii u will have a emulator,a hack/modchip and those things

You get what you payed for.

It's impossible until someone makes a break-through. Considering how long it is becoming to find that break-through nowadays, it might as well be impossible.

Fixed. Impossible means will not, improbable means may not.

It'd be more correct to say improbable in all of the situations listed, but people nowadays seems to think anything that hasn't been done = impossible to do.

Exactly. Just because no one has done something doesn't mean anyone ever will. Do I have to quote my examples in the original post? ESPECIALLY about usb loading of gamecube games? Almost everyone said it was impossible.

The thing is, sometimes it takes breakthroughs in order to believe whether something is possible or not. We thought Gamecube USB loading was impossible simply because we didn't have the means...or should I say, the know-how in order to do it. Someone eventually figured it out, yeah, but I bet if you asked about it back when USB loading was first coming out people would have said it's impossible.

Depend on who you ask. Some Persons still say that gba emulation is impossible on a DS without a slot-2 Card or a Slot-1 CPU.

ADD: This also happens because most people ask stupid questions.

Generally people don't say It's never going to happen. Fine me a quote where they say that.

Usually, people give technical feedback on why a particular idea won't work. And then the op replays that kindness by ignoring the feedback, and saying "you just gotta have faith you never know".

If I add 1 and 1 together I'll never get 3. That doesn't mean there's no way I can get 3 by adding something to one. I just have to add something different. (2, by the way!)

G
"GBA emulation without slot-2 card will never happen"

yeah right

Playing retail PS3 games on the PC is impossible... right now.

Playing GC ISOs on the Wii over USB was impossible... a few years ago.

Time moves forward, and people often give the "not possible" answer at a certain point in time in response to somebody asking a question. At the time stated it's true.

But yes, "never going to happen" has been proven wrong too often, which is why people tend to answer questions like "what flash cart plays 3DS ROMs" with "none, and we don't know when".

i am annoyed by people who think everything is possible in terms of hacking and that security can always be breached

If people actually said that it seems a very strange thing to say... as slot-2 cards didn't emulate the GBA at all; they played them natively...
