Why there isn't a 'best OS'.

Heya. I would like to start this blog with a few statements. I am mostly satirical when it comes to my favorite OS, or, well, anything. This is a serious blog post about what I think makes a good OS. This is also my opinion, and I do not believe that what I am saying is the best opinion, I am just writing this to tell everybody what I think about this subject. Let's start.

The reason why I think that there is no 'best OS' is because everybody has different views on what an Operating System should be. Do you like design? Do you like simplicity? Do you like a more light Operating System? This is all opinion and what one thinks, and your opinion does not define what everybody else should think.

I'd also like to point out the fact that just because a kernel is open-source, doesn't make a whole Operating System suddenly better. The NT kernel has its advantages, but does it being closed-source make it terrible? No.

I am not saying you shouldn't request OS' to use, I would never say that, but I do not accept absolute bullshit that should be kept to yourself and not used to force another person into installing what you like. We are all humans, and we should all accept that we have different views on the same subject.

Thank you for reading this post.

"I do not accept absolute bullshit that should be kept to yourself and not used to force another person into installing what you like" Execpt when it's the sort of Windows 7 group-think that goes on in TNS...

@hobbledehoy899 I have explained many times how I am not serious about my 'OS elitism'.

@TheKingy34 I have never seen those explanations, and it's kind of hard to take something as a joke when people gang up on you about it.

@hobbledehoy899 I have said that I am not serious about OS elitism at the starting paragraph of this entry.

Now if only people said the same thing about the 3DS CFW scene.
In all seriousness, there's no such thing as the perfect OS because there's no such thing as a one size fits all. I praise the living fuck out of Solus and that's because it works great for me. At the same time I can see where it would be limited to others compared to distros like Arch Linux. Just like how I find that I don't like Windows. I can see where the drive is for gaming and ease of the overall market, but I don't like Windows, it's not for me.
I personally don't care what someone is running, just as long as it works for them. If they want a suggestion, I have tons of suggestions because I've used tons of different distros. But I will never force anyone to use something.

@TheKingy34 You only said "mostly." Also, every time we talk about this sort of thing on TNS, you seem determined to fight.

Who gives a fuck? You only use it to launch the browser, and all launch firefox or chrome based things and support adblock. At this point you might as well argue who makes the best BIOS for all the end result matters.

I like any operating system as long as I can use it to browse the temp and wank to some porn sometimes simultaneously

@Touko White The only cleanup people care to do after a porn session is when they miss the thing catching the result. If you have to also delouse your machine because some silly porn site uses a bad advert network or something and your machine's only protection is it is old enough that not all malware will be backwards compatible enough then it is clearly not suitable for task.

I forgot to mention last time I of course still think anybody that willingly buys an apple computer has a) more money than sense or b) a kind of risk tolerance that likely will see them sitting pretty for a couple of years only to end up paying through the nose for repairs when it does all come crashing down (that apple tax on repair parts and the annoyances involved in fitting them...). Also in addendum to b) you can get machines running Windows (or Linux) with much the same parts as an Apple machine for a fraction of the price. Of course if you buy the bottom of the barrel cheapo laptop and compare it then it is going to flounder, buy one of the nicer lines (business class ones do well) and you can get all the same hardware (possibly even literally) for less money and stand a chance of getting repair parts for far less when things go wrong.

@StarTrekVoyager - Well, even if you aren't a FOSS nutter, it's true that microsoft is having the weirdest abusive relationships with its users. Seriously, the amount of crapware and spying garbage in Windows nowadays is ridiculous.
