Ok. So these are updated lists of compatible and unsupported games from previous threads and my own testing.

There are a few games like Pole Position (2), Roadblasters, that seem to be full speed but i could not get throttle to work. Also Super Hang-On is listed as Comparible but is slow.

With some of the Williams games like Defender, Joust (2), Bubbles, Robotron, Stargate, the user must go into settings and assign a Reset button for these games to work.

Hope we can get some others to chime in so we can put together a decent compatibility list.

Edit: OK i figured out there is a way to set up pause button, and save/load.
What is the way for do these on MAME Wii?
I was trying to mess up with the settings and i couldn't find these options.

I wonder if @SaulFabre could compile the RA FBNeo core for the Wii like he did for NeoCD?
FBNeo doesn't fit on the Wii's RAM.
The only way for compile FBNeo is splitting it in different cores but i don't know how to do that for FBNeo, neither for FBAlpha.

Start any game and press Home button on controller:
Input (general)>
User Interface>

Now scroll dow to Pause and press 2 on Wiimote, now press and hold the button you want to make Pause. Do the same procedure for Reset Game. For Save/Load I'll have to attach my Classic controller and mess with settings, the normal Wiimote doesn't have enough buttons for this...lol...

I'll post if i can figure out Save/Load.

Doing more testing on 90's games (larger rom size), compatibility really takes a hit for the worse. Checking my folder, i think any rom over 7mb will probably not run, but there are a few exceptions, just keeping that in mind.

Just about all Konami and Data East games are compatible if 7mb or less, and let the user exit clean without code dump. I think Nintendo games are also included for great compatibility in my tests.

Taito games are hit/miss, some work while others do not. Irem games are not supported i don't believe at all. CPS1 games will all most likely work if the rom size is not above 7mb.

I still need to test early Capcom games, Sega, Nintendo, Jaleco and finally the Namco library. I think when done, maybe around 550 parent roms will be supported. I have new found appreciation for MAME-Wii, it is pretty damn solid for what it is. While it may lack RA features and a little rough in some areas, i think it holds a solid place in Wii Arcade emulation imo.

When i am finished testing in the next day or two, i will update the compatibility text. Then i will .zip the romset, save to my HD and DVD disc, and then remove .134u4 from my computer. This set is almost 35gb of game data i will never use again, but the Wii compatible roms need to be preserved.

PM me if you are interested in helping with the compatibility of MAME-WII or Wii Arcade in general.

Compiled some more tiny versions of MAME Wii for some problematic drivers (suggested by @Tototi).

Taito F3 System (makefile source) - Somewhat slow, but it works for me.
Tested:
  • Puzzle Bobble 2 (pbobble2)
  • Darius Gaiden (dariusg)
  • Elevator Action Returns (elvactr)
Sega System 32 (makefile source) - Again, slow (on most games), but frameskipping makes them *barely* playable.
Tested:
  • Alien 3: The Gun (alien3) (i couldn't get the emulated lightgun to work by trying to move the Wiimote cursor, for me it's unplayable)
  • Jurassic Park Arcade (jpark) (like Alien 3, i couldn't get the emulated lightgun to work by trying to move the Wiimote cursor, for me it's unplayable)
  • SegaSonic the Hedgehog (sonicp) (tested the prototype, since the other one (sonic) crashes after tutorial. Unplayable, cause the emu can't emulate the trackball (or i failed trying to get the input).)
  • Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder (ga2) (slow, but *barely* playable).
Please test these tiny builds, thanks ;)

With about 125 games left in my test folder, i have over 750 games working. There are about 1100 roms left in my untested obscure folder, i will not test many of these.

Later today i will up text lists for working, not working and untested roms. I have found some games like Wild West Cowboys Moo Mesa, Tron and others fully working that other emulators struggle with. Also changing "safearea" value to .94 has fixed display issues for me and recommended if using CRT.

@SaulFabre , thanks again for making this happen, but unfortunately it seems our tired old wii doesn't have enough power to run these drivers' games decently.
Maybe these will run more fine on the Wii U with overclocked vWii.
But again, i need confirmation of tests of the games with the new tiny builds, specially in these 'lightgun' games.

Also, MAME Wii has auto frameskipping, so some games are barely playable.

Compatibility List update. Almost at 850 using just the main core update release. Maybe i will test more of the remaining roms after a break and regain my sanity...lol...

As for Captain America & Avengers. I have tested this game with the normal updated core 3 separate times and have it confirmed working. Does this game crash become unplayable at some point?

@Tototi any updates with your testings of my tiny builds
I will only have time to do a serious test at the end of the week, so I just tried to make Alien 3 The Gun work with the wiimote as a lightgun, but the fact that these compilations do not save the config file of each game, as there is always one error when exiting, makes everything more difficult.

In this specific game (Alien 3 The Gun), I believe that the controls would be functional by setting the following settings, if anyone can test:

AD Stick X Analog = Gun 1 X
AD Stick Y Analog = Gun 1 Y

AD Stick X Digital Speed = 15
AD Stick X Reverse = Off
AD Stick X Sensitivity = 25
AD Stick Y Digital Speed = 15
AD Stick Y Reverse = Off
AD Stick Y Sensitivity = 25

Those settings worked fine for me in my first tests with Alien 3: The Gun. I will keep testing.

Taito f3 test has some settings changed to improve speed. soon I will put the list of the operation of the taito f3 and segs s32 games

Interesting ;)

Hey there guys,

dUtYn4T.png

I was bored once again so i decided to recompile the emulator MAME Wii 1.0 (a port of MAME 0.134u4 for the Nintendo Wii) made originally by ToadKing, against devkitPPC r26 with some updated libOGC 1.8.16 and portlibs, also i have modified a liitle code basing on some work from other people, for bring a complete experience on MAME Wii.

The things that difference from the original MAME Wii 1.0 are:
  • Compiled with devkitPPC r26 / libOGC 1.8.16 / some updated portlibs, this arcade emulator now can accept newer Wiimotes (the Wii Remote Plus ones).
  • Fixed one thing in the code (PAL574 to PAL576 variable) for be able to compile on devkitPPC r26 (based on @niuus' quick fix he made for compile Descent-Wii)
  • Increased ROM limit number from 150 to 10000 (thanks @DarkMatterCore for help with that).
  • WiiFlow plugin support. (Thanks @Wiimpathy!)
Since there's some interest in this old but goodie emulator, i decided to recompile it and add these tiny but cool features all in one mod of this emu.

Source code of this mod can be found here: https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/MAME-Wii/tree/MAME-Wii-sfg-MOD

Enjoy! :yaywii:

Great work a lot of games are working correctly and specially suit this emulator. A quick question is there a way to scroll through the games list a page at a time instead of going down the list? Anyways thank you for updating this

Wow @SaulFabre this is really unexpected.
Thought MAMEWII was dead.

Currently testing this.
But... I have a question: The MAME.ini file has some options... I'm noticing that the Video option says "Soft" so I'm guessing it's using a soft/blur filter.

Can you confirm that the emulator is indeed blurring pixels? Or do you know how to change it so it doesn't use "Video Soft" for a harsher/cleaner video quality?
