is that solder blob on damaged part of the cpu?

Not a solder ball.

Pliers took out chunks/chips off the CPU as well as severing a trace.

I fixed trace and went from OL to 450, but the console does not turn on.

I did the rest of the install mistake free so I am pretty certain that this is where the problem lies.

Not sure if there is a fix other than trying again on a new console.

its seems the cpu is shorted bc of all the exposed copper, fix short or find someone who can
maybe not shorted sorry my bad, the traces appear to be broken on the chip pcb though

Not understanding what you mean.

Can this be fixed? If so how can I fix it?

What does shorted on the chip mean?

Yeah that's what I meant it looks like cooper layer in that case I would say rip

Is there any way to fix?

think u broke continuity in those 2 traces, open attachment to see what i mean

He means that the copper layers could be touching each other and therefore are shorting something that should be shorted....

Since u don't have that Much experience just call it a lose , or bring it to someone who is willing to take the time and try to fix it.
But the cost of fixing that will be prob more then the switch is worth....

I mod to learn, so I wouldn't mind practicing.

What is the fix involved for fixing this?

Also how did you learn reball and how hard is it? I do not like the DAT adapter as it looks cheap and would prefer to use the reball adapter.

short is continuity between 2 traces that are not supposed to be connected

I didn't know if you meant on the CPU chip or on the switch motherboard.

How can I fix the short?

The green adapter is a good candidate, if you want to go tou reball route.
You could avoid the great risk on destroying the clk pad on oled mod.

You might buy the 0.007mm silver cable to fix extra thin traces.

And use transparent uv mask (jewelry uv resin) + uv laser to hardened it

I circled the CPU damage above to make sure we are taking about the same thing.

Does this look like the CPU is damaged beyond repair?
People do really have good eyesight. I myself couldn't confirm anything from the picture. The image quality seems not enough to conclude something.

The traces fix seems worrying on shorting with neighbour traces.

A good way to troubleshoot would actually be to install a picofly and see what error code it gives you. Then you would also no longer be considered hijacking this thread.

Here's my success post! Thanks to the active posters in this thread for the guidance - I think I took at least two weeks of just reading and commenting until I received everything and doing my first OLED (personal). Micro soldering is indeed a whole other beast, but with the right tools, patience and guidance from the people here, it was possible!

I used a mix of 30AWG insulated wire and 0.08mm magnet enameled wire, since it's what I ended up ordering over a month ago.
Worked on the first try, and I retested it as I was rebuilding it - I got worried after my first success that my mosfet died, because the ground and data line were connected, and the components nearby seemed to as well, but it was so late, I couldn't remember if I had tried that before or if I had caused an issue when applying UV resin. Ultimately, I tired it again and it works fine.

Here are some shots, it's not the neatest, but I did use UV resin to reinforce connections.

This was by far the toughest point, it was my first time scratching to get to the first copper layer, and I used my tweezers, and I scratched part of the ground layer, so I covered it back with UV resin before continuing with the soldering.

Trace Fix shouldn't be touching anything. Wire has an enamel coating and there is only exposed copper on the second trace near the middle.

I am no longer hijacking because I can buy a pico from the store here and install that chip instead of the instinct once I fix the switch(if fixable). So my posts asking for help are now for a pico chip.

see my previous post with attachment to see "my fix"

I see the attachment but what procedure do I need to perform to fix it?

there are two pcbs, the switch pcb where u performed a trace repair already, and the chip pcb where u ripped a chunk out of with ur pliers, u gota do trace repair on chip pcb if those traces have been cut/damaged

I understand, but how would I repair that?

What steps would I need to take to repair that?

I don't think a wire is going to work.

What do I do after that?
ur gonna have to try to find the original traces it was connected to , so in other words ur gonna have to slowley scratch of the top layers of the apu to find the existing layers
Post automatically merged:

but im pretty sure this is gonna be impossible , give me a sec im gonna show u a picture why

i took a defective Apu from a v2 its the same as on the oled and grinded the layers down fast so u can see what u would be dealing with and why this is pretty much not possible for u even i would try it cause its a wast of time and effort

red top layer (Uvmask)
Black second layer ground
third layer is pcb material
Blue fourth layer ground
green via in forth layer

More of the fourth layer

this is the sixth layer after that they appear to go to the solderjoints under the apu

Hello. Is there a way to turn on an OLED board by shorting the power pins' slot? I got one that I think is alive and would like to get it picoflyed.
