I haven't played this game before (I own it on PS4 but interested in playing on switch instead). Is the blacksmith bug a big deal? It's very odd some people have "finished" the game and others have a seemingly gamebreaking bug early on?
What I can tell you is the main quest directed me to go there and talk to them and it was necessary to do it to continue because it was part of the opening tutorials. I don't see how you can do the main story without at least that one visit. Disabling the mod long enough to get through that tutorial sequence may be enough to finish the main story and it's pretty much holding your hand the whole way anyway, so you don't really need to read to finish it.

As for whether the game can be completed without doing upgrades? I don't know. I think it would be significantly less fun at the very least. More likely you'd just have to make do with the mod disabled temporarily every time with the Japanese text because it's basically your upgrade path to staying relevant as areas progress. A lot of it is somewhat self-explanatory, but some is a bit unclear such as exact effects of certain components. One thing I did try doing was going back and forth, reading the components, then switching it off and actually applying them. A bit confusing, but it got me through doing at least one simple upgrade.

Actually, I think some functions may have worked without a crash. I did not test extensively (and you can't do much at the start due to lack of materials anyway.)

I feel like there may be other crashes later on if this one is failing.

Wow. Yeah, did not see that coming. Especially since they already waited this long before deciding to do it, lol.

I guess that handily solves all the problems. Probably. Hopefully.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
