nooo 1 pulled into the lead! why?!
FAWK. How do you 'Unlike'...? I agree this is sad D: WHYY?
People probably making dummy accounts to get their preference? It's happened before :P
If that's true, I'm going to find out. I just reported the poll to the higher-ups. If we have to, we'll do this poll over again and make it a public poll, where everyone can see who voted on what. I personally want #1 to win, but not if people are going to fuck with the poll.

Oh yes, I was curious about the credits - are you planning to insert team members into the actual game (via an extended staff credits or loading screen or whatever)? I've seen so many different ways used by various projects, so it's something I always look out for haha.
Hmmm, I don't think we're going to do that. I don't want to "taint" the translation by adding extra text that isn't found in the original Japanese. I think it's enough that we include a readme with the patch, and the OP will have the patch download link on it from FileTrip. The OP already has the credits, and the credits will be on FileTrip in the file description as well. The readme, the OP and the FileTrip file description are all going to contain the credits, so people will know who worked on it. It's not like anyone's going to try and claim this as their own work, anyway.

It is a cool idea, though. But some might think it's almost equivalent to how some hacker groups add an intro screen to their patches (which a lot of people find annoying).

Official translators add in their names in the credits so why not you guys?
Because we're not official and we're not affiliated with Squeenix in any way :P

There are probably some legal issues with including our name in the credits as well. We're already breaking enough laws as it is just by doing the translation

Might as well break a few more then, a broken rule more or less doesn't make a difference =X
But credits are there for the reason the name states; giving credits to people who worked on the game. You guys worked on the game so credits where credits are due would be the morally correct approach.

Well, I don't really mind about the credits being in the game, and neither does PG. I think I also remember Inori sharing PG's opinion on the matter. Not sure what the other project collaborators think, but it would be interesting for them to weigh in with their opinions, as well. If there's some disagreement among everyone involved in this translation, then we'd discuss it privately via PM.

And if we did insert our names in the game, I would choose to do it in the end credits. But people are more likely to see who worked on the patch by downloading it from this thread, than they are to see it by watching through credits. Either way, people are going to see who worked on it.

I'd still choose for my name not to be in it
No amount of voting would change my mind, really. A thanks is enough for me. I didn't make the game, didn't design a bit of it. If someone wants to give credit, they can give it to the company and the rest of the team :)

As for "might as well break a few more", no thanks. "Well you're already stealing money, might as well rob a bank, too!" That's not the way I look at things, sorry.

I'm fine with not adding my name.

A readme could come with the patch crediting the translators but I also think that if they dont want their name on the game, they shouldnt put it there.
Last thing we need is Square raging at GBATemp over a little creditation

Isnt that mentality why things like sopa get support?

I feel if the ones who made this translation doesn't want to be in the credits, I feel it's not needed to badger them about doing so. Requesting a "credits" patch makes others look ungrateful in a sense. They have done their job and have done it well, the team has stated already on multiple occasions that the best reward was working on it (if I'm not mistaken) I respect their wishes and understand in full why they have chosen this to be so. From this gamer I thank you BoBTT (Blood of Bahamut Translation team) for all your hard work and effort into making one of my all time fav DS games "local" :yay:

Damn, I want #4 way more than #1.
Either way though, the game will turn out beautiful and I'll be happy with either chapter screen style. You've all done a tremendous job. Good luck with the, last bits.
As for the credits, that shows how selfless the team is to not feel the need to be in the credits.
That said, I wouldn't be opposed to an intro, extended credits or some sort of splash screen being hacked in. Again, thank you all.

We have a serious problem. Someone made 58 dupe accounts, all with the same IP address, and voted in the poll.

We're trying to see if we can remove all the votes from the same IP address, but if not, we'll do the poll again. If it comes to that, it will be an open poll.

The next time someone does this, I'm broadcasting their IP address on this forum.

And to the person who did it, consider yourself banned.

You have got to be kidding me. What a ridiculous thing to do. This is not that serious dude (referring to whoever did it). Just accept fate and stop the nonsense. I picked selection 4, but if selection 1 wins, then so be it. I hope my attitude is taken on by the individual who felt the need to turn this into something it's not. This is a neat poll; don't ruin this for the team or the other members of this forum. Thank you.

Assuming said person voted for the same option 58 times (it wouldn't make sense not to do this) can't you just decrease the amount of votes for option 1 by 58/57? Or leave the poll as is, but subtract 58 from option 1 when calculating the winner?

Actually it was 4 different IP addresses, now that I take a look at it. It could have been 4 different people, or one person using a proxy, and I couldn't be bothered to figure out which IP addresses were used to vote for what choices. Besides, all I could do was sort the votes by IP address, but not necessarily see who voted for what. But yeah, thanks to tj_cool, crisis averted :yay:

Say goodbye to all 58 votes and accounts

:yaynds:
Thanks dude! Looks like #4 wins...by a landslide

Congrats to #4, and thanks to everyone who voted (fairly)!

But was that point properly explained when you made the poll? I don't expect many people on the board to know Arabic and/or Hebrew; I imagine they just went with what sounded cool.
For what it's worth, some of us working on the project (myself included) wanted to use the word "Colossus," and I even pushed strongly for it.

But the people have spoken, and there's nothing that can be done about it now. It's impossible to make everyone happy.

The fact that "bahamut" and "behemoth" are the same word in two different languages doesn't even matter with this game because in the Square-Enix world, they are not the same word. If you want to argue with the choices this forum has made, you may as well argue with the company that popularized the two words as completely different monsters. Not only is this the case in Squeenix games, but in Dungeons & Dragons mythos as well.

Yeah, but Bahamut was usually a summon and Behemoth a boss and/or random monster, so the similarity was a little more forgivable.

But it's a relatively minor thing. I just thought it warranted mentioning. You guys probably have fairly fluent speakers of Japanese, but not necessarily of other languages. And it's that translating-what-was-itself-translated without recognizing the source material that gave us the horrid batch of names for the cadre of monsters inspired by Dante's Inferno in FFIV.
