Great, another Sony thread got derailed.

Seriously, discussing a phrase across English, Latin, and French? This is why we can't have nice things.
You forgot German.

Now, be good and don't suck the fun out of it - it doesn't have to be gravely serious to be considered "fine". ;)

...so... Them sales, right? Fascinating.

You're so mean gahars. XD

No but seriously, I feel like Sony should do it more. It may not be true but I feel as if they are a bit overconfident....

EDIT: I srsly miss your old ''challenge accepted'' avatar. XD

I wouldn't write off Sony until the Vita has its first Christmas here yet, but as far as games are concerned I ain't seen nout that personally interest me, as stated before here, there seems to be bigger and better versions of said games on consoles.

Going by that logic, we should slate Super Mario Land 3D as a failure because there's a bigger, better Mario game on the Wii.

The fact that they're within the same franchise doesn't mean that they have no place on a portable platform, I fail to understand this reasoning.

Woah, who pissed on your cornflakes? I don't recall saying these games had no place on portable systems or saying they was failures so thanks for putting words in my mouth.

All I stated is the games on offer on the Vita do not appeal to me because in most cases there are better versions available on the PS3,

Sony's goal with the Vita was to provide PS3 level power for on the go gaming. Many people can't fathom why they "have" to buy a similar game they own on the PS3 for their Vita. Which TBH just reveals how retarded people are at times, but that's beside the point. The Vita definitely needs more defining games. I saw Dungeon Hunter which I was mildly interested in and Gravity Rush, but nothing else really clicked with me. Now, if they release a Dark Chronicle HD collection for the Vita, I would go to hell and back just so I could get the cash for the system and the game.

Hopefully Sony can pull itself from the fire on this one. I rather like a few of their "dead" IPs and I would hate to see the Portable market go back to being Nintendo exclusive. Sony has done a wonderful job providing a portable powerhouse. Not to mention the homebrew potential I've come to expect from their portables.

I was refering to the second part of your comment, really. Saying that there are "bigger, better" games available on the home consoles entails that train of reasoning. Don't treat it as a personal attack. ;)

Hey, um did you see my reply? :P I think it got lost somewhere when you two started talking about languages.

And with my limited knowledge of japanese, (probably all wrong)
ガハラス、おまえもか。(omae being the informal version of anata?)

Then Spanish and Swedish which I'm fluent in.
también tu, Gahars? (needs one of those upside down question marks but w/e)

Även du, min Gahars?

People expect the Mario game to be different, it looks different and it's advertised as such, plus Mario games covers a wider range of players, another thing is that people who play Mario games are also those who enjoy handheld games. A CoD core gamer doesn't care about smaller portable entries, that's just how it is, they want the next block buster entry in the franchise to play online with their friends and really, if you're at home and want to play multiplayer, which game are you going to pick, the console version or the portable one? CoD's main attraction is online after all.

Also Mario is the kind of game you want in a portable format. It's a series well known for it's portable entries.

As I said before, Vita needs games that PSP owners liked. PSP owners is the target audience not already established console gamers.

I did read your reply, I just didn't have anything to add, really. ;)

Meaning Metal Gear Solid, which it has, LittleBigPlanet, which it has, Disgaea, which it has, God Eater, which is getting both a PSP and a Vita sequel, Project Diva, which it has, Killzone, which is to be released, ModNation Racers, which it has, Persona, which it has, Resistance, which it has... we could go on and on.

The state of Vita's library is greatly overblown out of proportion - the system does have good games to offer. As of today, not in the future.

There's a lot of blame one could put on journalists, really. Many writers still maintain that the system has little to offer when that's not the case anymore, and there's only more games to come in the near future.

Exactly, this is what I said that the Vita needs more games that are similar to what's already available. I said it needs games like when it lauched since that's what I find appealing. And as of now I personally need more games that interests me to justify a purchase.

Sony is starting to get their act together with the Vita, I seen the Assassin Creed Vita bundle commercial on TV a lot recently.
But still, I've seen A LOT more Wii U commercials than the Vita.

^Oh that's good, they haven't shown a single Christmas Vita commercial here though from what I've seen. I've only ever seen a Vita on TV once, it's not in paper ads even.

Since when are they still selling the PS2?

Sony's main push with the PS2 is selling it in poorer areas now a days or places that it was never launched in its hey day. Not as daft as a practice as it sounds, Sega managed to support about 3/4 consoles at the same time, Nintendo managed to support the NES pretty well along side the Snes too for a while

Waait wait wait wait wait.

10 million units by the end of March? Are they crazy?
That's 20 weeks from now.

Do a bit of math, and we can see that Sony is expecting to sell 500,000 units every week for the rest of the fiscal year. Half a million PSPs and Vitas, every week.
If you follow the weekly sales charts at all, this is basically just a god damned impossibility. Consoles don't even sell .5 mil on launch week.

Am I missing something awfully important here? Are they just trying to give their shareholders some big numbers to hold onto? Because this is nuts.

Yes, you are.

This the full-year sales prediction of both handhelds combined. By year, they mean the fiscal year, so the deadline is March 2013.
