Hmm, I just can't get this to work properly. I am 100% sure I have my network set up fine. As soon as I load up HomePass v5 (MAX) and enter the time duration for macs, the CMD just gets stuck on the resetting adapter text. I go see my network connections window and I see the Wi-Fi and attwifi disabled and i'm unable to turn them on again without rebooting my PC. What to do? Just in case this helps, I'm running Windows 8 Pro with a Netgear WG111v3.

Can anyone give any tips for confirmed working USB WiFi dongles to use with Windows 8 x64?

I've tried the Netgear WNA3100 and Linksys/Cisco AE6000. The WNA3100 needed to be unplugged and replugged for the updated MAC to take effect (and was just flaky/inconsistent as well), and Cisco works much better in general but requires a restart after every MAC change, which also is no good for this tool.

Any suggestions?

just wanted to say thanks for this program, I've been getting 50 passes an hour on both 3DSs in my house.
I got a question though how do I avoid my two 3DSs passing each other?
I assume this happens because it relays one of my 3DSs to the other like an actual N-zone spot

okay I've tried to follow this, only to be stuck on step 3, when I typed the command on step 3, it said the host network could not be started.

Im using a laptop that can connect to the internet fine, would I need to connect my laptop to my router with an ethernet cable to do this? or is there something I can do to fix this issue by going through something in the control panel?

EDIT: I just found out my network card is not hosted network supported... damn..

I might have missed it while I skimmed over things. But is anyone using a bridged usb wifi adapter with this program? I'm not using microsoft's built in virtual network stuff. I've been doing my cycling by hand via a registry file/edit and its becoming tiresome.

I asked Chaldron if there will be a version without the hosted network start, because I can put my USB dongle in station mode too.

Would be nice.. also would be nice if I could find better software for my dongle that allows me to whitelist MACs. Last few cycles I've noticed as many has 4 different MAC's connecting to it. :(

Shoot. Based on your reply, I did some research and went and found/picked up an ASUS USB-N13 B1, which has the RTL8192CU chipset. No dice -- still needs a restart after every MAC cycle. Connects fine, but won't apply the new MAC without a restart, which again won't work with this script.. I'm this close to just breaking down and getting a WRT54GL, throwing DD-WRT on it, and setting it up as a repeater with a MAC changing script.

Weird... it works fine and flawless for me, my model is an "Steren Generic USB" dongle BTW lol

Edit: Ok so I found out how, I got 2 streetpasses but I screwed up, now everytime I try to test connection in my 3DS it passes the access point check but not the Internet one, if I go back to main menu, it connects to internet and shows up the Nintendo zone thing, but it's not getting any streetpasses anymore, dunno how to fix it

First: Thank you for such a wonderfully complete post on how to do this. Worked like a dream.
Unfortunately, after about 2 or 3 days of working well it has now stopped working. My 3DS will no longer connect to the internet through the Internet Connection Sharing. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, a wired connection to the internet, and a Belkin N150 Wi-Fi Adapter.

It used to work well as an internet connection to the 3DS and other things (my phone, tablet, etc.) but now nothing can connect to the "attwifi" internet connection. The status shows that the adapter is sending a signal but not receiving one back. This seems to be a Windows issue more than a 3DS or adapter issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm having similar problems connecting to my attwifi virtual router as well. I connected one random time and even then the internet portion of the test failed.

I cannot connect with my 3DS or any other device...though my Android tablet did connect, but could never get an IP address.

EDIT: I should also add that I am getting an "Access is Denied" message when I run the script. It says that, then it says it along with a winding file path \AppData\Local\Temp\ztmp\tmp6175.bat

Finally got HomePass working on my PC.
My onboard wireless adapter had the ability to allocate a mac address to it through the device manager. I followed all the usual steps and made the virtual adapter.

The problem was that virtual adapter mac addresses can't seemed to be changed through my experiences. So i gave my original adapter (with a changed mac address) the name "Wi-Fi" and my virtual adapter "Wi-Fi Virtual". The virtual version has the ssid of "attwifi" and the Wi-Fi version had my regular internet connection as passing through it. Anyway... it ended up working with that mac cycling program.

Just a heads up for those that cant get it working. Works well with the revised program mentioned on here:
