Awesome news ,i love it.The work is going to take a lot of time, the people underastimate the security and the specs of 3ds. Also any work can get ruined when Nintendo publishes an update and patches up the security even more. So this can take around 5-10 years from now unless 3ds is completely hacked beforehand.

i hope someday we will see the wii u hacked and a 3ds emulator for the wii u, playing 3ds games on a 3d tv with the wii u controller as the bottom touch screen and controls would be awesome

if nintendo wanted to really boost wii u sales they would make a 3ds emulator for wii u ,sell an adapter to plug 3ds carts into the wii u , like their old gameboy and gba player adapters for their older consoles ,like the game cube gba player , or have 3ds games purchased on the eshop be able to be played on both systems with a NNID , and nintendo would make even more money because then people would want to buy the digital versions ,if there were no adapter to play 3ds carts on wii u ,people would opt for the digital versions more because they would be able to be played on both systems , and since they charge the same price for both digital and physical copies ,they would make more money since they would not be paying for producing as many expensive carts

To add to this i think if the brilliant minds that are currently working on the emulators would work together for one big emulator, progress could be faster.Sure the competition can bring new ideas faster and inspiration but when a person has nothing ,what can they compete with? its better if they could just work together.

Wii U has not been fully hacked yet( its in progress ) and even the smallest software update can ruin everything. Wii U will get its share when Smash Bros 4 is released. It has good games its just that its outshined by PS4 which offer a better variety of games and to an extent Xbone

With an emulator, the only security to get past would be the encryption on cartridges. The only thing you'd need a real, hacked 3DS for would be to figure out the key, and once that's published (might be illegal, but that never stopped anyone on the Internet) no patches to the 3DS software could stop the emulator from working. Unless of course they change the keys (which I'm pretty sure they do already with each update) but again, all it takes is a single person to hack it and publish the key. With an emulator in the wild, there will be more motivation for that. With physical access to the hardware, nothing is impossible, just potentially very difficult.

Last time I went to build it, I couldn't get the Qt portion to work correctly, so I unloaded that project from the solution, it builds fine after that (though obviously you don't get the debug stuff)

If you can't setup QT you probably won't be able to help in any way... so there's no point in you even compiling it yourself.

I don't think this is nessacerily the best way to judge someone. The setup for getting this thing to build isn't exactly the most straightforward thing in the world.

Less straightforward than actually using it for debugging 3ds home brew?

Actually, I found the instructions to be very detailed considering the purpose of the program.

How far did the emulator that citra trying to make got to?
Is it like 10% from complete or is it not even close to 1% of being complete as a emulator for 3ds?

Emulators are never 100% complete, there is always some games that don't work, or compatability problems.
How close is it to being able to play commercial 3ds games you ask? Maybe 5-20 years.

Dare I say, some emulators are in fact complete...for example bsnes is compatible with every commercial game out there, as are many other cycle accurate emulators. They may or may not be compatible with certain hacks, but said hacks might not run on actual hardware either (at which point, you end up with what's known in the software development world as scope creep). That being said, we're a LONG way off from this in the 3ds world.
