Progress has been slow currently because I'm still working on getting code execution on my 3DS and bunnei has a fairly good excuse for being busy with RL stuff. Someone has been working on getting blargSnes to run within citra though, with partial success since it now is able to load ROMs (not play them though, unfortunately).

Anyway, there is one thing people could help me out if they have some spare bucks - I've got an Amazon wishlist[1] at http://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/WJBMSN1Q5MHG [2]. One of the items is the book "Real-Time Rendering" by Tomas Akenine-Möller, and it has proven to be extremely useful when implementing Citra's GPU emulation. I currently have this book borrowed from my university library, however I obviously can't keep it forever - so it'd help a lot if I just had a personal copy of it. So... if someone of you feels like being generous, here's what you could do :)

[1] In case you didn't know, Amazon wishlists are a good way for other people to get me stuff from Amazon without having to exchange addresses or bank account information and the like. People canadd a wishlist item to the chart, pay for it and it sends the item to me.
[2] sorry, it's in German because Amazon wishlists kind of suck and buying at Amazon.com is not really an option due to import taxes. I was told Google translate performs well for this, however.

EDIT: Do note that I'm perfectly aware that this book can be pirated off Google, which however I neither support nor would want to do anyway because having a physical book available is preferable for me than a PDF. Please respect this and don't try to point me towards some obscure ebook warez site. If you don't agree that I should be asking people for a favor, just keep silent about it and give others a chance to help. Do also note that I already invested roughly 200 € myself into Citra development by getting myself a 3DS purely for homebrew development, so I'd like to keep future expenses to a reasonable minimum.

EDIT2: Someone was generous enough to get me the book. You know who you are, so thanks again :)

For that book maybe not as nice of a solution, a google search and some digging can also work for you as well XD

googling "real-time rendering third edition pdf" will give you all the links you need, but I can understand, that reading from a book may seem more natural then using a pdf, also it would be considered illegal to download it, hence I'm not posting links, just saying, it is a possibility for now, until you have those extra 70€ to buy the real book ... just saying

Yeah.. physical book > some pdf > some malware-infested pdf :P

Also note that it's not only about being "natural" but obviously I can't read a PDF when I don't have my laptop with me (not owning an ebook reader, that is). I guess I'll clarify my post that I was aware of this option.

Holy Crap, 60 EUR(70 USD) for a used edition? You're not a cheap date at all. I'd totally do it, but that's a little steep.

Heh, well it's nice to hear people are interested in supporting us nevertheless :)

I understand it's not a small amount of money and it won't come as a surprise to me if no one ends up funding it. I figured I'd ask anyway because why not :)

I think the 3ds community is a little weary of donating anything after the incident with the decapping fundraiser.

Yeah I know. I myself didn't donate to that, but just reading that whole debacle ticked me off. -_-
Anyway, I don't know why, but I feel I could trust neobrain and the others to do what they can with my money. I would at least make a 10$ donation towards their efforts. I know it may be a while before we see citra do anything comparable to anything dolphin or ppsspp and I know that the project may end before that can ever happen, but still, I'd be happy knowing that the devs had all of the resources they needed to at least try to get this ball rolling. I know it's gotta suck throwing your own money into a project that won't give you any future profit which is why I would like to help out.

Citra team, if you have a way to donate by friday, I will give you 20$ towards the good cause! Just keep on trying your best! :)

Thanks for the kind words :) However, I don't think we will be taking any direct donations at this stage. We might do so in the future, but currently we'd rather spend our time coding than setting up donation stuff ;)
The offer is appreciated, though!

Not to be rude, but I'd be willing to bet we'll be 2 generations of games down the line before this thing will play Pokemon X and Y...

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Of course that would depend on what you mean by "play". Does your definition require that it be winnable with 100% completion (including all mini-games and possibly even online play) or is merely being able to get into the game and do some stuff enough. After all, if it crashes as soon as you get into the first pokemon battle then it is technically playable (rpcs3 calls that "half playable") though there would be little point in using it at that stage.

Why do people feel the need to keep saying that? This emulator doesn't haveGPU support, and it's core is an interpreter. It'll probably be a while before it even gets to the title screen of commercial games, let alone to the point where you can get to the first pokemon battle. I doubt that Tripleking considers "crashes at first pokemon battle" as playable, and I highly doubt that he counts "Takes 30 minutes to get to the New Game/Continue Screen" as playable either.
