Having trouble doing the browserhax on this guide.

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-1-(Homebrew)

I did it before and I didn't have to set the time and stuff so I skipped that (it's for downgrading mines an upgrade to 9.2) I put the starter folder on my sd card and used the camera to scan QR code and it goes through all the colors but freezes at the red screen. Tried 7 or 8 times.

Don't put the starter folder onto the root of your SD card. Put the 3ds folder and the boot.3dsx that's inside the starter folder onto the root of your SD card.

You can't use browserhax if you're on less than 9.0 (or with a browser less than -22 I think). If you're upgrading to 9.2, use the 9.2 upgrade section of the guide.

Edit: on second thoughts, you wouldn't get colours and stuff if your version is too low. That's confusing. You're not trying to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.2 are you? If so, there's no point (though you would have to use the homebrew launcher to use CFW/install a9lh).

Do you definitely have boot.3dsx and a folder called 3ds on your root?

Part 5, section VI, Step 15, homebrew launcher does not load, says server might be down or my version is not supported? 11.0.0-33 EUR?

Updated for hblauncher_loader v1.2!

Download the otherapp/ropbin from smealum's website (under the "Otherapp/ropbin payloads" section) that corresponds to your system, version, and region. Rename it to 1*-2*-3*.bin.

Where:
1* refers to n3DS or old 3DS, written as NEW or OLD.
2* refers to your current system version, written as 11-1-0-34
3* refers to your system region, written as EUR, JPN, or USA.

So, for example, I have a 2DS with 11.1.0-34U. My otherapp payload is OLD-11-1-0-34-USA.bin.

Create a folder called hblauncherloader on the root of your SD card and add that file to that folder. Open up the Homebrew Launcher Loader CIA. You should now be able to boot into the Homebrew Launcher.

Done, fixed!

UPDATED INFORMATION FOR ANYONE HERE WITH 11.0.0-33
BROWSERHAX NOW SUPPORTS 11.0.0-33 AS ENTRYPOINT FOR HOMEBREW ALONG WITH MENUHAX. NO THERE IS STILL NO DOWNGRADE WITHOUT HARDMOD OR FEILDRUNNERS.

SCAN THIS QR CODE FOR BROWSERHAX WITH 3DS CONNECTED TO INTERNET. (NO SLIDER NECESSARY) AND UPDATE YOUR MENUHAX INSTALLER FOUND IN THE STARTER.ZIP ARCHIVE OR THE GITHUB RELEASE PAGE :)

(Make sure the Boot.3dsx File is always on root of the sd card, extract it from starter zip archive and that you have changed your theme in home menu at least once prior to launching homebrew exploit to install menuhax.)

I haven't really looked at the 3DS section in awhile, there is a ton of stuff here and I am trying to wrap my head around it.

I have a 3DS XL on system version 9 something or other (its not in front of me at the moment) and was thinking about pirating some games as money has gotten tight lately lol.

Any way I just spent like 40 minutes reading stuff and figured the best thing to do is ask.

Do I need a flashcart like I did on DS or can this all be accomplished with softmod like the Wii with free custom firmware?

You only need a flashcart if you're going to play downloaded DS games. You can play downloaded 3DS games in CIA format after you follow this guide to at least Part 3 and Section II - Installing FBI only on Part 4.

@Sonic Angel Knight Try re-uploading the QR code please. It's not showing up.

Now I think everything is working fine, how can I thank you for helping me out? :) You are a very helpful person, thank you so much!

Cool Thanks, I am going to follow that guide when I get home. So is this basically the same level of hack that the Wii has now? Are we doing and irreversible softmod of the console to where Nintendo will no longer repair the system?

Pretty much, but if you install arm9loaderhax, Nintendo will uninstall it, iirc, so there's that.

You don't need to do anything special to thank me. :) I'm just glad I was able to help!
I have the same question as you (concerning the DS Flashcarts on 3DS), I have a R4 DS clone, how do I get it to run on N3DSXL?

EDIT: Also, is it now totally safe to upgrade in the future? (For example v12.0.0 ?)

EDIT2: Also, can I play region-free games now? Or do I need to install something extra?

I can't seem to get the updated menuhax installing on my EU 10.7 N3DS, but used the updated browserhax to setup VVVhax in the meantime.

I'm planning to do A9LX following Plailect's guide, but there's something I'm not clear on.

My previous attempt at a downgrade resulted in a soft brick, so I want to make sure to avoid that this time. I think the thing I missed last time was doing a system format.

If I do a system format, how do I avoid wiping VVVVVV and the associated exploit I have installed? Won't doing a system format wipe everything including installed games and saves?

I would check here or on r/3dshacks to see if the newest firmware version is supported before updating.

You should be able to run out-of-region games with Luma, but to make the DLC work with it, you need to use the "Enable region/language emulation" feature. Make sure that "Enable region/language emulation" is checked in your Luma3DS settings and follow the instructions located here under "Enable region/language emulation": https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Options-and-usage
