melee is Rantou (乱闘/らんとう/Rantou) in Japanese.

So............RantouDX?

The term "Melee" was never used in Japan. Instead, they called it Great Fray Smash Brothers DX. Hence my offer to call it Project DX.

The link I posted was the first somewhat recent tutorial I could find. (I haven't actually used any GBA VC injection tools yet, but I know it's a thing.)

This has always been a thing. As far as I know, it was the first type of inject.

Not sure where Wii comes into this, though you did mention Wii and GBA in the same post.

The VC injections are for GBA and other systems supported by the VC emulators. Wii games cannot be installed on 3DS, and likely never will be emulated on 3DS due to hardware restrictions.
