Help, I have lost all the links in the desktop(Windows)

I don't have much time to tell you the story, but I don't have the programs links on the desktop anymore, what's the fastest method to get them back? I don't have a backup, neither a restore point.

Like the shortcuts to programs? You can go to your program files and make more. Just right click on the .exe file you want to make a shortcut for a go to "make a shortcut".

Messing with the cache probably screwed windows's shortcut placement, as that is stored in the cache along with the icon images.

Is there a program to create shortcuts of installed programs? Or maybe converting start menu links to desktop links, IDK.

I dont think there is, you could try googling around in the tenforums or smth.

If you wanna be really lazy you could install Rocketdock and just drag and drop everything to it. Takes maybe five minutes.

Yeah but i format every 2 months for security anyway, so it wasn't not a big pain. I wouldn't recommend it, hopefully these solutions above work for you

If you have a second HDD in your PC you can install windows 7 (or anything that supports NTFS) to it then copy everything over from your previous install, then format.
