I'm trying to install a9lh on a friend's n3DS, and I'm having trouble getting homebrew entry points to work. The 3DS I'm trying to hack is on 11.0 (USA region), and I have access to both an old 3DS (probably 11.1 or 11.2 USA) and a new 3DS (11.4 USA) with a9lh and Luma already installed. The target 3DS is giving the update nag, if that's relevant. So far I've tried both Soundhax and OoT3Dhax, which are the entry points I have access to without buying something. I am following the Plailect guide, as I have for the other two systems I've installed a9lh on (I used Browserhax the first time, and the DSiWare method the second, which should give you an idea of time frame and system version).

Soundhax gives an error and forces me to hard reset by holding down the power button. I used the microSD transfer option in System Settings to transfer the actual file over to the target 3DS as opposed to going through the process of opening the battery cover (I don't even own a screwdriver capable of opening it); could that be causing the problem?

As for OoT3Dhax, it's not even installing with the exploit installer homebrew. I'm using the friend's retail cartridge, no updates or anything, and smealum's hax installer from the homebrew menu. My 3DS just sits there and does nothing at the homebrew menu, and I've left it unattended for five minutes or more. Is it supposed to take a super long time and not look like it's doing anything? Can I install the payload manually through SVDT or JKSM or is only Powersaves usable, and if so how?

This actually happens when the payload is non-existant on your SD.

Try moving it to the SD manually as opposed to wirelessley.

And you could always try a knife to open the screw, at least that's how I do it

You can use sdvt and simply move it into the cart if the installer isn't working

OK, I'll try injecting OoTHax manually first, then. A couple of questions, though: the archive I found (off of the guide) has a whole bunch of save files and two separate card IDs. How do I get the card ID of the card I'm using? I'm pretty sure the card was bought at launch, does that help narrow it down? Or do I just need to try both and see what works? Do I just copy everything from the USA directory in the correct card ID?

The cart id is the id of the game, so it has no effect on you. All carts in the same region have the same I'd, so use the save relevant for your region

Both cart IDs have USA region saves in them. As far as I can tell, they have the same names, but CRCs are different. Can I use the saves from either, and the whole mess is completely irrelevant?

Also, do I copy everything in the USA directory or is there a correct save for the target device?

I believe the cart got a revision. If one doesn't work, try the other one. You could probably check the TitleID in FBI. Not sure if the Guide lists that.

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
