I realised we had missed one on the supposedly responsible adult behaviours list.

Topic says it all.

Personally I have not ironed anything in about 20 years, and that was only because I did not know better at the time.

Technically I did steam my suit with an iron as apparently you need such an article of clothing, impractical as it is, and it can't be stuck in the washing machine like all my other clothes.

I've never ironed anything in my life, nor have my parents. My grandmother, however, gets very excited when I go to her house for vacation, because she takes every piece of clothing I have, and irons them. It looks like a very tedious process, but it is fun to wear a fancy fresh ironed shirt and slacks sometimes.

I don't iron unless my mom forces me to which is a very rare occurrence. I don't even really fold my clothes either, I just roll them up and sort them into their respective drawer, socks are unmatched and just thrown in.
Ironing isn't really necessary for me as I hate to wear formal clothing even to semi-formal events.

This is 2017 people, why would anyone iron clothes in this day and age? Use your brains, hang them on the line to dry nicely so it's as if it was ironed by the moment it's all dry and ready to bring back in or simply get clothes, sheets, etc. that don't need ironing!:P Yes, that's a thing that exists and they are jokingly cheat too!

I take it you have never experienced the American attitude towards washing lines.
Or if you prefer your flag says Greece so even in states hotter and drier than that you will easily find places where putting your clothes outside on the line will get you strange looks for a start and complaints from the neighbours. I don't get it, the times I asked about it I get odd looks and mutterings of it looks untidy and we have tumble driers for a reason (why I would waste a fairly considerable amount of electricity and damage my clothes* when there is perfectly good sunshine I do not know). It is not even the really fancy neighbourhoods either, not that anybody gives a damn about that here either.

*all that fluff you pull from the machine is material from your clothes that simple air drying does not remove).

Don't iron my clothes. Every job I have had has either not cared or not noticed that I haven't so I never had an incentive to actually do it.

Here everyone has clothes lines, it's weird if you don't!:P But I know what you mean, I don't get Americans especially who spend money on a machine and waste electricity to do something the sun does for you naturally, it makes no sense! But most importantly, not only do those machines ruin clothes, they also need upkeep (the things you have to take out every so often or it stops working). Sure the sun can ruin the vividness of the colors, but if you bring them in as soon as they are dry rather than leaving them out for hours for no reason, then that is easily avoided.

There is probably an iron sitting somewhere at home but I've never used it. Normally I just hang shirts up on a coathanger to dry. They don't look quite as nice, but it's good enough for me.

ewww it sounds like you like bugs in your undies . . . i on the other hand will dry my clothing quick enough (and hot enough) that no bugs get to my crotch-cover and as an added bonus i dont have to worry about weather freezing and/or re-wetting (with possibly dirty water) my loin cloths

It's obvious that you don't actually wash your clothes, just give them a rinse. Bugs almost never go next to clean clothes, except for moths and moths never approach wet clothes! It's much more likely for bugs to get inside your closet than then getting on your clothes while they are drying.

Quick and easy convienence is why we have Washers and Dryers in out homes or just visit our local ones. Back where I grew up we used to wash clothes by hand and hang them on long clothlines that went from our buildings to poles.

It definitely wasn't uncommon but because of our techonolgy advancements and local affordability it became the norm to use machines. Heck I still to this day will hang my clothes to dry out in my fire escape everytime I'm back in the Bronx but could always give my shirts a nice spin in the drying machine to keep warm during winter.

I hate ironing dress shirts and pleated dresses. But I do have to do it every day. I could get them dry cleaned and done professionally, but I'd rather not spend money on something I could do myself.

'Back int day' when the 'in thing' clubbing attire was basically fluorescent lime green/shocking yellow shirts and the like, yeah that was my ironing... thankfully these days I can just lob on a decent fashionable t-shirt or sweater to go out on the piss in, so yeah, no ironing for me outside the usual suit times either.

Again, why waste money to do something you can do for absolutely free, courtesy of the bright red ball in the sky?:P Plus if you actually waste money on a machine, you are wasting space in the house too. Also, the dryer causes the clothes to need a good ironing afterwards, while the line outside doesn't. The sun basically saves you both the money you would use for the electricity and makes two machines obsolete, the dryer and the iron.
