Aw, that's a shame. My family makes homebrew beer (and also used to make wine with our own grapes too, but we stopped because harvests became progressively worse as each year passed) and I thought we could try brewing Sake too, but it was already a pain to find the right type of yeast, so I don't think I'll ever be able to find that specific rice...

Here in Italy we have something called "grappa" which many consider to be moonshine because it's made out of winemaking leftovers and, at least in the past, was sometimes illegally made (just like moonshine). It's not my kind of stuff but with all the regulations in place right now you can expect to drink something good, unless you get some roughly made, poor quality, shady stuff that you got from some farmer located in the middle of nowhere, that is.
I know what you mean about the harvest, lately it keeps getting worse every year... Thankfully my vineyard is basically my garden, so it's all for myself and I don't sell it, meaning I got more than enough for myself, so much that I get extra grapes to snack on!:P

Actually, we have grappa here too (Greece), but it's terrible, although very rarely it can be decent...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

if it were available here i would get that

i wish i could . . . aged drinks are (usually) expensive
I didn't mean it as aged, there's nothing to age when it's almost entirely alcohol:P Just telling you to get the kind that's 99%, not something that's 80 years old.

I assume redneck wine refers to moonshine or another similar drink, so read above!
Not at all, it's a sweet wine that you could easily mistake as juice...until you're drunk. Redneck is literally the name of the brand, which is why it's hard to find because it sounds like you're using slang, like if there was a brand named "Jailhouse hooch juice".

Underage boiz *pumps fist in air* *trips on shoelace* *awkwardly leaves*

Off topic question. Do people drink to get drunk or are people ever okay with just a glass?

Both. Many wines have health benefits if consumed moderately, i.e. a 5oz glass a day. The sting of a shot of tequila can be quite pleasant as a one-time stress relief activity. But... most people drink to get drunk most of the time. :grog:

If you want to get drunk you can get drunk, if you want to get buzzed you can get buzzed, but you can hardly ever get drunk on accident no matter what people claim, they know what they are doing! So yes, they drink to get drunk or they drink to get buzzed. As for the "just a glass", depends on the size and drink, correct amount in right glass will get you to the point of being just about to get buzzed unless it's a spirit or something similar, it's that carefully calculated. However now, a spirit in a beer glass will get you more than drunk, specifically you will be a dancing dead! What I mean is that you need to specify for such questions...:P

A sting of any spirit is good for that, not just tequila, but watch your blood pressure rise right after. As for the benefits, actual high quality wine (meaning pure and fermented) with natural alcohol is really healthy for you and even greatly strengthens the liver if drank at the right amount, which is about a half full wine glass (I'm optimistic:P) daily but while having something to eat to.

Jack Daniel's. Which I've recently learned is a "redneck" whisky. Which is ok, I'm like one quarter redneck.

I prefer Dickel for sour mash, but I don't know what would make JD specifically a 'redneck' whiskey. It pretty much all comes from Kentucky and Tennessee. Whiskey lovers the world over are pretty indebted to those rednecks.
