i still use mine you either need a 3ds under 4.3 or cfw (luma)

if you want to use it to set up cfw you will first need either a hacked 3ds or fw under 4.3 or a ds (fat or lite or i or ixl) to set up the exploit on the flashcard

you actually have all you need to get setup. the guide will have you use the nds lite to exploit the ak2i then you will use the ak2i to install cfw on the 3ds then you can play 3ds "backups" directly from the systems sd card (like eshop games) and you will be able to play your ak2i in the unit as well

not exactly it goes exploit the ak2i then use it to exploit the 3ds then your 3ds will be able to play it

the bigger the better . . . sd cards 64gb and larger will need to be formatted to fat32 first (i have a 128gb in my 3ds and about 200 games/apps installed on it [note. after 300 the system no longer displays new apps/games])

officially ak2i only supports nds/dsi and 3ds 4.3 and under systems but cfw allows them to be unblocked on 3ds for any fw (there is even a homebrew app to use flashcards that never worked on 3ds at all like the original r4)

as far as running the exploit on your 3ds you do it in such a way that it happens before the system actually boots its fw so it never gets a chance to block the flashcard

oh and i forgot to mention that unless this 3ds is a 2ds you will need a magnet (i used one off my fridge)

ak2i is all you need. once you have CFW you can use a stage 2 launcher to get into the cart, while it still has the ntr flashed to it.

not only can he restore his flashcard but there is no need to use stage_two for ak2i
ak2i was the (first) flashcard ntrboot was designed to work with and will still operate in a cfw 3ds (like normal) even in a exploited state

I have the supercard dstwo plus. It's a good card and possibly has the best gba emulator too, if you want to play gba.

nintendo cant "fix" this without changing the hardware . . . so to answer your question yes it will work

Best for the Money: R4i Gold
Outdated but ok: AK2i
Don't touch with a 10 foot poll: Any R4 Clone that has a year printed on it.

Also keep away from the flashcarts from r4i-sdhc.com, I recently got myself an R4i SDHC 3DS RTS (No years printed anywhere) and it turned out to have a time bomb. I can even provide video proof if anyone wants to see that. Before you ask, no mine wasn't a fake card, I already checked it in the "Truth Inquiry" section of the website. The cart "expires" in the year 2020.

while r4isdhc.com carts do have time bomb, r4isdhc.com.CN carts do not, and runs hacked wood as official firmware.
