Some information about the planned rename:
I won't end the name vote or rename Tinfoil until @blawar sends me a proper proof of the trademark.
Still waiting dude, show us that you really own Tinfoil.

Not an expert on the matter, but how could such a common word be trademarked? And more importantly, what's there to trade in this case?

Silliest argument ever. If its a scene tool, and its free, think hard about making it open source. Usually the goodwill far outweighs everything else.

If another scene tool thats widely used is named similarly to yours - maybe dont try to bring a name back - because you wont win mindsets in a legal battle. Call yourself "the artist formally known as tinfoil" (tafkat ;) ), anything really, in the end names hardly ever matter (unless you are apple, then sue the eff out of trademark infringers in the electronics field because your naming idea was so hella original).

Can we have one program generation, without people half doxing alleged domestic abusers? Although I'm not sure where my allegiances lie on that one... I guess in the -snip- camp. On the other hand, as always, screaming out "toxic" and doxing folks - not a freaking smart thing either.

But I guess, some people just have to get a mob together when trying to be heard.

Suggest your names for Tinfoil!
And please, read this below before asking anything.

As you may know, Adubbz gave me the main developer role on Tinfoil a while ago.
I decided to make it a nice Switch title manager and installer, and I'm still and will be working on that.
After @blawar decided to rename his project Tinfoil and supposedly trademarked the name, I think that the time has come. Time for renaming.
Honestly I've never liked the name "Tinfoil", but left it because the community likes it.
Now that this happened, this is a great excuse for renaming my project.

But I'm terrible for choosing names sometimes, so I've decided that the community should choose the actual name of the tool they will use (soonTM)
For those wondering what will it do, I'm mixing the concepts of NSPower and Tinfoil on this project.

If you are still wondering why I'm renaming the project, it's mainly because I've wanted to do this a while ago, and to avoid confusion after DZ got renamed.

I really dislike that it's developer renamed it, because of the reasons he has to do that.

Go ahead and suggest names here. The most liked name will be the chosen one!
Don't suggest a name if it's already posted, if you like an already posted name simply like the post!

The last thing I'd do is to forget and stop developing this project.

I guess that I'll wait for a few days before choosing a name. Remember, be creative!

-snip-

Can't wait for the book blawar. No need for the autograph.
For now, you didn't convince me (and another handful of average people) of your credibility. And you can't really be surprised since you acting the way you do :)

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
