Does the 'System Initialize' option in ChoiDujourNX not wipe everything? It says it's a full factory reset
Only recommendation people recommend is doing a NAND backup before setting any sort of CFW, and restoring that before you want to go online, full factory reset isn't the same as as a clean NAND, as logs are still there.
Ah ok, I assumed it was wiping everything. There's still no relatively simple way to totally clean your NAND then is there?
If you ever sent any error logs, no. If you never sent any error logs, you can rebuild your NAND and it should be clean.Ah ok, I assumed it was wiping everything. There's still no relatively simple way to totally clean your NAND then is there?
Mount the emmc in hacdiskmount.
For 100% clean emmc...
Mount SYSTEM, bis key 2.
You will have:
Contents
save
saveMeta (maybe)
1) Delete saveMeta folder if it exists.
2) Go in to save, delete everything apart from 8000000000000120 - you will want to complete initial setup when booted!
3) Go into Contents/placehld. Delete anything that may be in here (probably empty)
4) Go to SD card, delete Nintendo folder. It is now useless.
Unmount, boot. Done.
You can try this, this what mattytrog recommended to another user, another way is to rebuild your NAND with Choidujour (PC version) and restoring it if your firmware is lower enough and didn't burn your fuse.
Thanks - if I select the 'System Initialize' when updating my (standard) NAND will it delete my EmuNAND (stored on device, not SD)?
No, when setting up emunand it creates a copy of your sysnand, once done they are separated if it is on SD.

The system initialize option in choi is completely different from the one in the system settings...If what you are saying is correct then why people would recommend restoring clean nand, rebuilding nand via choidujour PC version, and why Mattytrog would recommend cleaning nand by mounting the emmc using hacdiskmount, when people can just reinitialize their system and go online lol, you know you are providing misleading info.

dunno, maybe people don’t know about it. But the system initialize option in choinx does destroy all system savegames (except for 8...120 or whatever it was)If that is correct then why no one recommends that when someone wants a clean nand, why is everyone recommending the clean nand backup for people that tried CFW and wanted to play online afterward? My point is reinitializing doesn't make the system a clean nand to go online.
@rajkosto - I'd appreciate some more info if you have time (also thanks for creating such helpful apps!)It does say it's a full factory reset - is there a way to ask the creator of Choi directly?
I also want to confirm that it won't effect my EmuNAND before selecting it...

The factory reset in choidujournx works the same way as any other factory reset. It will reset the console to factory defaults but logs will be kept and such. To make your SysNAND "safe" again, you either have to restore it from backup or rebuild it from scratch (which still might not be safe as it depends on whether or not you sent any error repoprts to ninty). Is there any update on this? I want to fully wipe only my non-emunand partition so that I can go online with games like Mario Maker 2
