Hello, I have a couple requests for this wonderful app, and I hope you are able to add these features overtime;
1. Adding suspend points for games
2. Adding border customization like in the actual SNES Classic
Thank you so much in advance. This app is so great and these features would make it perfect.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on an app for Nintendo Switch that is like the SNES Classic menu, but with an emulator built right in.

I’ve been testing it on my beta discord server with people and they seem to like it so far. Here is one user who has tested it:

Try it out if you like! Via my Discord:

Will update the thread as progress continues.

Could you perhaps share your thumbnails folder?

Well, I don't collected all SNES games. I collected what I liked and that's about it. Why can't you just make your thumbnails folder ? it's easy. Sorry that I couldn't help you with because I don't collected all games at all. Only games that I really liked.

It is still in WIP and he is no longer working on it? I hope you are still working on it. Don't give up. ;)

I would love to see that too. I have a SNES Classic but it would make it perfect too!

I see you left the Discord server, if you aren't working on this any more I really hope you consider releasing the source code you have so far.
It'd be a shame for this to just disappear.

I agree with this, this is such a unique project that has already shown a lot of promise and popular appeal just with beta releases. Having it disappear so soon would be sad, as there seem to be plenty of Switch projects that have been left half-complete as of late. I know that I certainly wanted to use it more regularly myself with just a few more tweaks :D

This is a project that used copyright infringing art assets, and a baked in emulator that was never going to be supported be the developer in any extent. This was a glorified skin, and a project that ensured, that people would never enjoy state of the art emulation - with featuresets that could be provided by the likes of retroarch or native ports of certain emulators.

It served as point of contention as well - because people assumed that this was a port of Nintendos own SNES emulator (name currently escapes me), just because of looks and appearances.

It might be half a shame, and half a blessing, that this didnt take off.

this was a project that used the original assets from the SNES classic, on discord it was being pitched as a small binary that would read the theme on the classic and present a UI functionally equivalent to the original but without the various bugs.

it was also going to have support for the rewind functionality of the SNES with other retroarch cores that didn't really have true random (like NES, SNES, and others)

the version on the SNES/NES wouldn't have included anything except logic, no assets...

the switch version that he had going afaik was going to require the user to copy the assets from their own classic

Folks, I’m sorry to say I lost interest in this project and won’t be doing anything else with it.

Nintendo will come out with SNES Online soon I’m sure and we’ll all be having a fun time when that day comes.

Thanks for your time.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
