where do i get 8.1.0

is this easy to update

will transfer choidoujournx lastest one over to switch
You can't ask for 8.1.0 here. Use Google. Yes, it's easy to update with ChoiDujourNX.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hello all!

I got a new switch to use for online & legit purchases and I'll use my old switch for CFW and Homebrew. So far, I did some things. I want to transfer my save data using Nintendo Online AND keep the save data locally to my switch hacked switch as well. This is what I did so far:

1. Deleted internet config, turned on airplaned mode in clean switch
2. Loaded my sd card with atmosphere, put my switch in RCM and launched Hekate. Backed up my NAND BOOT0 BOOT1.
3. Launched atmosphere and saved my games to SD card using both Checkpoint and EdiZon.
4. Restored my NAND, turned off my switch, removed SD card
5. Turned on my switch, went online, confirmed my games were backed up with Nintendo Online to transfer to new switch, then deleted my user (unlink account from switch)

Now I have some questions:
Since the backup I currently have was made with my nintendo account linked to my switch, if I eventually restore my NAND again will my legit account "come back" to the hacked switch? Should I back up my NAND again without my legit account? Is my NAND still 100% clean even after launching CFW?

I was offline during the whole time when CFW was launched.

Sorry for too many questions! I'm very new to switch hacking. Thanks!
The old Switch is no longer linked to that account on Nintendo's servers, so account features should not work after restoring a NAND backup. If you want to restore your Switch to a clean state using the clean NAND backup that has your account linked, you should do so offline, and you should perform a system format afterwards.

Alternatively, you can make a new backup. If all you did was run CFW offline, it's probably still clean.

So I hacked my Switch yesterday (running Kosmos CFW), so far everything is running nicely, but I still have a couple questions:

I currently have three different launch options:
1. OFW 8.1.0
2. CFW sysNAND 8.1.0
3. CFW emuMMC 8.1.0

- I heard that booting into OFW without RCM will always burn fuses (if neccessary), is that true? Can I use ChoiDuJour to update OFW sysNAND without burning fuses?
- Is going online with a clean CFW sysNAND considered safe? My "dangerous" stuff is kept on emuMMC which is completely offline. Or should I use the stock firmware for playing online instead?

If you boot your system without AutoRCM installed and without a custom bootloader like Hekate, then yes, you will irreparably burn fuses. You can use Hekate to check your fuse count. To keep your fuses from being burnt, keep AutoRCM installed. You can use ChoiDujourNX to update your emuNAND. To update your clean sysNAND for online play while keeping AutoRCM installed, you will have to update officially through the system settings while running CFW.

As long as you aren't running homebrew or installing NSP files, then yes, going online with a clean CFW sysNAND is probably safe. However, running OFW is highly recommended on a clean sysNAND.

Thank you for your reply! So, just to make this clear, everything I do on CFW sysNAND also affects the OFW side, correct? I haven't booted into OFW yet, that's why I'm asking (and hey, this is the noob thread anyway).
And as soon as a new firmware is out (that I want to update to), I will have to enable AutoRCM, basically forever?

Also, can you explain why, when I install NSP files on emuMMC, the titles don't show up in sysNAND? I was wondering because they're not installed on the emu partition.
Nevermind, it's because the emuMMC installs stuff into its own directory. Got it.

That is correct. CFW sysNAND should be avoided, unless you're updating the system version and want to keep AutoRCM installed. OFW sysNAND is recommended in most other instances.

You need to keep AutoRCM installed forever if you want to prevent your fuses from being burnt. This means you will have to install an update to your clean sysNAND from the system settings using CFW each time you want to update.

I'll have to go online anyway, since I use homebrew like ftpd. Thanks again!

One last thing cuz I'm dumb...
To update your clean sysNAND for online play while keeping AutoRCM installed, you will have to update officially through the system settings while running CFW.
Why can't I use ChoiDuJour for updating my sysNAND? AutoRCM should be enabled anyway, shouldn't it?

I have an Ipatched running pegascape....would I be able to use another sd card for android or is atmosphere all?
You should be able to use Android with another SD card even with an ipatched console.

Is there a way to stream 3DS Games to the Switch?
How?
(Got CFW on both)
There is not, there is no one currently working on it, and it may never happen on the Switch.

If I block Nintendo server through custom DNS can I still be able to play Mario Maker 2?
You can still play it offline.

Hi hi.

Is using (or having used) AutoRCM bannable, and currently used by Nintendo to ban? Also, regarding this:
This means you will have to install an update to your clean sysNAND from the system settings using CFW each time you want to update.
Does that mean CFWs prevent the burning of fuses on updates from system settings? What are the chances of getting the banhammer if you only use CFW sysNAND to do that?

Lastly, I promise it's the last question, does booting into OFW via Hekate bypass burning fuses? I assume it does, but confirmation never hurts.

Nintendo has not banned users who only use AutoRCM.

Also since non-SX OS CFW protect the BCT during system updates, CFW prevents fuses from being burnt when updating officially assuming AutoRCM is enabled before the system update. The chances of a ban with this method is similar to using AutoRCM and CFW which is to say extremely low as no one has been banned for using AutoRCM or just CFW.

Lastly, booting anything via Hekate bypasses the fuse check. Fuses will not be burnt as long as AutoRCM is enabled because the stock bootloader is what burns fuses.

Including the new maps that are being made by players?

Havent updated my switch for a long time and got a few questions.

My current fw is 6.2.0 with atmosphere 0.8.2 installed. Hekate ctcaer is 4.6 with AutoRCM installed. Switch will stay offline.

1. If I want to update hekate, I just shut down the switch via the menu and copy the new hekate-files to the SD? Do I lose AutoRCM in the process?

2. How do I update the switch firmware? I just boot it with atmosphere and then use ChoiDujourNX with the newest FW-files?

3. For atmosphere I just copy the new files onto the SD and I am good to go? Should I update atmosphere before updating the switch firmware?

4. What is currently the best solution to install games? I read tinfoil is outdated?

5. Whats the best method to backup my files before doing all the updates?

1) You don’t need hekate on the sd card. Only if you set it as reboot payload. Simply inject the latest hekate version. You don’t loose AutoRCM.
2) Yes.
3) Always update atmosphere first. Replace all old files with the new files.
4) Goldleaf works good for me.
5) Backup your whole sd card. Also your saves with checkpoint.

I've had a Switch for about a year now, and I still only have 2 games. Unfortunately, I've not been... Financially enabled this year and this upcoming year I have a big project coming up that hopefully will let me save for something bigger. So my question is, should I save for another switch to mod or, should I just use the money to buy the games? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just felt I had to ask this.
