A couple thIings -
1) No sound is playing when I select any Sega Master System games - perhaps a mismatched OGG file?
2) When I go to select Game Boy Advance, it just hangs on the WiiFlow loading screen (the one with the white and blue logo flanked by the oscillating white boxes) - Doesn't load my games. Anyone else experience this issue?

Ignore point #2 - it just took a long time to build the cache methinks - Working great now.

Thanks xLAKITUx. Yes, mismatched ogg in the ini.

In all truth I didn't pay too much attention to the sounds because I rarely use them. There are so many annoying sounds, first and foremost the one for the PCE Cd. Such a booming high pitch all of a sudden that it raises my hairs each time! I think the plugins sounds should be shorter and pleasant to the ear, given that you'll be hearing them a lot of times. The super mario coin sound for a Nintendo console is perfect, for example. But it's not always easy to find an iconic sound with these characteristics.
I sometimes made some banner sounds, just today I made one for prboom with the sound of a shotgun and an imp dying.
However banner sounds are very low on my priority list.

I'm currently in the process of updating the Plugins Pack. I'm going over my ini files again, fixing all the remaining mistakes and adding further documentation, plus filling all the previous update requests. Should be ready soon.

I only have a doubt with Retroarch and Hexaeco cfg files. They are for 16:9 LCD displays, with correctly scaled display resolutions and scanlines. Nothing fancy, but just the settings required to display the games properly. I thought it would be nice to include them, it could spare the users a lot of time. Furthermore, @RunningSnakes kindly provided me with a cfg file for FDS that finally allows to turn disks.
Unfortunately, the paths for the system directory, overlays etc. are all from 'sd', so you must change them to 'usb' if you use USB.

@xLAKITUx you said that you had issues with Hexaeco's cfg's, but not Retroarch's.
You have the wiiflow/plugins folder on usb and the cfg files are pointing to sd.
I told you to use 'usb1' instead of 'sd' but I was wrong, it just needs 'usb' without 1.
Regarding Retroarch, can I ask you where do you have the 'Retroarch' folder? SD or USB?
Retroarch's cfg files are still pointing to SD, so if it works for you I believe you must have it on the SD, right?

Thanks for adding retroarch fuse as an emulator for zxspectrum.
But about fuse I tell you something that I have not been able to solve (I have not yet tested the core of the pack), when you load a game with the "-" button the virtual keyboard should appear but it does not come out, for it to exit I must enter to the retroarch menu and in the controls change control 1 that comes out as retropad (I think) and choose another one like the kempstone joystick.
And this configuration I have not managed to save it in any way.

Gosh, I forgot to add it in the changelog.
Yes it's true, to make the controls work I have to select Controls from the Quick Menu, then in Port 1 Controls I have to change Device Type from Retropad to Kempston Joystick.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to save the controls settings, even after hex-editing the dol file to save configuration in Retroarch/fuse_zx_s.cfg

This is absolutely excellent. I did some testing, and I've got a couple notes --

  • For future packs, you will have to create this folder -- PATH:/wiiflow/plugins/RA-HEXAECO/system/temp
    • If you don't create that temp folder (which can be left empty), people will run into the same issues I was experiencing with the configuration files where it will dump them back to the WFL menu when selecting a ROM.
  • This is nitpicking and general curiosity - Any reason you decided to keep the viewport window so small for Game Gear (assuming you are running RA-HEXAECO) - You probably did testing to get it as close to the original resolution as possible without sacrificing quality. This one seems a bit tiny. Is it a mistake, or is this as intended?
  • Typo on SMS OGG file - Should be PATH:/wiiflow/plugins/Master System/Sega_Master_System.ogg - This file name was missing the second underscore. This sound is actually totally obnoxious, but it was bothering me that this was the only plugin where a sound didn't play when selecting a game. (I'm sure there are other people out there that are also insane like me that this was an issue lol)
  • Zapper support while using FCEUMM (RA-HEXAECO) - Nevermind - I forgot that in the original NES, you had to insert the Zapper into port 2 and keep a regular controller in port 1. No issues here! :-D

@xLAKITUx Thanks for your reports

1) great for finding this out! I think the temp directory is used when you have zipped roms, to extract them, while I have all my games already unzipped. This way I didn't notice the issue.

2) Yes, it was intended. With a larger display it was all blocky, worse than the other handhelds, but it's very easy to reconfigure it.

3) Thanks, I had it updated on my SD but forgot to rename it for the pack.

4) I don't know, I was never able to use it for RA and Hexaeco. I always use the GX emulator for the zapper games

That's good to know! So you just have to keep a second Wiimote connected as port 1?
I hope it doesn't break the gameplay if it disconnects or goes in stand-by

For lightgun games to work in FCEUmm. Start any game, then in...
MENU > Core Options
Zapper Mode = lightgun
Show Crosshair = enabled

Then go to...
Settings > Input
User 2 Device Type = Zapper
User 2 Analog To Digital = Left Analog
User 2 Device Index = Port #2

Do not change anything for User 1. You do not need a second controller, 1P Wiimote is all you need. Just wanted to mention Nestopia does not support lightgun games or FDS disk swapping along with a few other features. Unless you are hardcore Nestopia fan, stay away. For all RA NES emulation FCEUmm is clearly the best. Overall I think it is better than the GX,RX,TX as well, but that is my personal opinion, and since Tetsuo has them all included in his pack, we can all draw our own conclusions.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'll test with GC/CC to configure, if for some reason someone would prefer to use a gamepad for lightgun games.

Edit:
I've tried with gamepad and it does not work, only Wiimote. Using RX, Wiimote is required also, no gamepad support. I'd bet GX, TX are the same.

I'm slowly changing/updating my plugins based on your pack.
@Tetsuo Shima today i noticed you have satellaview still separated from SNES games. even though in wiimpathy's last database update he merged satellaview in with snes.
also noticed you gave them different flows. snes covers on their side and satellaview normal vertical covers. so where did you get your vertical satellaview covers? the 2 i have are side covers.
not a big deal. just curious what your intentions were.

note: if you are using wiimpathy's final version of his database - in platform.ini under [COMBINED] you need to add satellaview=supernes

@Tetsuo Shima my apologies.
I just checked the last database download by @Wiimpathy and he did not merge satellaview games in with supernes even though he clearer says it here - https://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiflow-lite-with-emulators-database.527613/page-3#post-9011001

I checked a couple of BS games in satellaview ini and xml and did not find them in supernes ini and xml.
note: if you are using wiimpathy's final version of his database - in platform.ini under [COMBINED] do not add satellaview=supernes

I guess for me any supernes source button i will just put both magic numbers - one for snes and one for satellaview.

No problems @fledge68
Yes I have the updated DB, and in fact I noticed that they were not separated.
I kept them as separate coverflows, for 2 reasons:
-Snes games library is huge and it could have been troublesome to find a Satellaview game in it
-Consistency with the other Add-on System (Mega CD, FDS, PCE-CD) that are treated like separate systems.

No particular reason for the vertical coverflow, as I still have no Satellaview covers in there.
I thought that maybe one day I could do a custom cover set for Satellaview, given that they had no real "physical" covers I thought they could use a different box.
But considering that some people could decide to merge Snes and SV in one single coverflow, maybe it's better to use Snes_cart for both.

I'm just popping in here (without an issue or bug report) to just say a major THANK YOU to @Tetsuo Shima - I have a full-time job and limited free time, but I have spent so much time tinkering around with the Wii over the past several years, and the work you have done here (along with some of the other heavy hitters like @fledge68 @Wiimpathy @RunningSnakes - Not going to list everyone. See page 1 for the credits haha) is a true labor of love.

With your HEXAECO tweaks, some of these old games have never looked or played better on modern hardware/TVs. So good. My WFL setup looks great atm. I do, however, have a shortlist of things I'm interesting in diving into that seem a little more time-intensive and confusing. Right now, I've got this setup:

WFL 5.4.7 (beta 5) w/ most recent Rhapsodii Shima Theme [integrated w/ Wiimpathy's incredible Emulator Database]
  • Wii and GC Backups stored on USB HDD
  • Emulated Consoles/Handhelds
    • NES (fceumm RA-SS mod per latest pack update)
    • SNES (snes9x_next RA-SS)
    • GB/GBC (gambatte RA-SS)
    • GBA (mGBA RA-HEXAECO)
    • Virtual Boy (wiimednafen)
    • Sega SMS/Genesis/GG (genplus_gx RA-SS)
    • Atari Lynx (atarilynx RA-SS)
Shortlist of things to add (with questions)
  • Arcade games
    • This one is overwhelming because of the varying compatibility issues and all the different types of hardware/software (MAME, CPS1/2/3, NeoGeo, etc...)
    • I've seen videos (that I believe Tetsuo posted?) of Arcade games running from WiiFlow but the screenshots that typically appear on console games are replaced with mapped controls tweaked specifically for the WiiMote and Classic Controller - looks incredible. However, I feel like I need a crash course on exactly where to start with this project.
  • A bunch of the really interesting looking Wii ports to classic games like Duke3D, Quake, ROTT, Jazz Jackrabbit, etc... I know that the plugins themselves are included in the pack, but is there more to this? I'm assuming I have to grab the actual GAME files and stick them somewhere? Is there a tutorial for this out there?
  • Sega CD - Not sure where we stand with this. This is another one that seems like a bit of an undertaking. The other Sega consoles are simple to work with.
    • How do these run w/ the most recent HEXAECO/SS mod?
    • Are there still performance issues when loaded from USB?
    • There's a million damn files associated with this. I remember a conversation about converting the multiple iso and bins to one file type (CHD?) so that it can be used with coverflow. Does this have negative performance issues though?
Apologies for the wall of text. Thank you everyone on here for all your hard work!

Thanks @xLAKITUx for the kind words
-Arcade games. I use only the mame2003plus RA cores, compatibility is huge. (see the included compatibiity list to see how to separate the roms). This + FBA for CPS games and Neo-Geo.
-I made some banners (link in my sign) with controls mappings, just for Dosbox games and a couple of source ports (Eduke32, Prboom). But not for Arcades.
- Source Ports: there were a few that never worked with wiiflow (WiiROTT, WiiDoom, WiiHexen, Bermuda Syndrome and a few others) All the working ones are in the pack and they have a readme file to explain where to put the game files.
- Sega Cd is not that hard, you only need to put the Bios in the system directory. Works good in most cases, but I've noticed some stutterings in Sonic CD. I only tried with USB though.
I don't use CHD's but I believe it has no impact on performance.

Exactly. This part of the story (meaning arcade games, DOS, and Sega CD) is simply a truly masterpiece!

In doing this, how do you get it to display in a user-friendly way in cover flow so there aren't basically 15+ different entries per game due to the multiple .bin files?
