So after I prepare everything (put all bios in system folder, download latest core...), I still can't play the game. The iso won't show up when scanned and running directly don't give the option to load it with psx core. The cue file also not show up when scanned but it does load when run directly. The problem is after saying the game loaded, it just black screen and nothing else. I keep waiting and nothing happen. I can still return to the menu so it not freezing, the game just won't play.

The first thing to always try is making sure whether the problem is on switch RA's side or on your side. So grab your bios files and you rom and see if it works on win or android RA with the same core. If it doesn't work, then you most probably have wrong/corrupted files. If if does work, then your switch RA setup is wrong in some way. You can't really mess up psx emu, there's nothing hard in setting it up, you just need the right working bios files in system dir and a working rom with a supported format.

...Also worth mentioning trying to load another game and see if the problem persists.

I assume you are on HOS and using PCSX ReARMed... So you can read more about it here - https://docs.libretro.com/library/pcsx_rearmed/

Had the same problem, I had to find an old version of the PCSX core to get it working again. I can't remember which or where I found it though.

What about trying another game? Does it work? Maybe its a compatibility issue... I'm on latest RA, latest core (just updated it within the RA), atmos 19.4 and 11.0.1 FW and all my psx games work just fine. You can try resetting the main RA config by deleting/backing it up or just doing a fresh install of the latest stable release.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
