What Nintendo Switch Fan should I use?

I need to change my Nintendo Switch fan and noticed that there are 2 types of fans, one with a rubber pads in screw holes and another with just plastic screw holes). IDK which one will fit a V2 switch so that I can buy the correct one. Also, What fan is generally better if they both fit...

Hardware Removing Copper Sticker/Tape/Shim from SoC shield, is it good or bad?

how does the board get hot compared to SoC? if the heat is transferred effectively from the main heat-source (SoC) to the heat-pipe, then heat is dissipated through the heatsink/fan cooling and-or transferred quickly to the back-plate. Also, should I remove the thermal pads on memory modules...

Hardware Removing Copper Sticker/Tape/Shim from SoC shield, is it good or bad?

Thanks for you comment, I removed it but in the process the copper sticker is now not reusable as it is extremely thin. If I'm to put something in between, will those 0.1 or 0.3mm copper shims they sell for mobiles be sufficient? Image below. heres what I did, I removed copper sticker...

Hardware Removing Copper Sticker/Tape/Shim from SoC shield, is it good or bad?

Hello All, I've been trying to find some concrete data on the changes before and after removing the mentioned copper sticker and so far I'm not able to find any useful data. I've read every single comment from this post here in GBATemp and I'm seeing people mostly say it improves the heat...

Hardware Cooling Memory Chips in Nintendo Switch?

So you have removed the copper sticker in shim? How do you find the cooling results to be? Better than having it there or pretty much the same? Have you overclocked as well? What do you think about my method of cooling memory modules as showin in the images? Not sure if its necessary or not...

Hardware Cooling Memory Chips in Nintendo Switch?

if its the shim you are referring to, I never mentioned or suggested I'm removing the shim. So is my suggested method of adding thermal pads between and on top a viable cooling option? I just clarified my thought process in a previous comment. Also, does eMMC require cooling, more so than the...

Hardware Cooling Memory Chips in Nintendo Switch?

SoC definitely runs hotter than the Memory Modules, so the shim will get a bit of heat from the SoC, if I apply a thermal transfer between the shim and memory modules (thermal pad) that heat might travel to the modules in a situation where the heat from memory module is lower than the heat...

Hardware Cooling Memory Chips in Nintendo Switch?

thanks for the replies My switch is not modded so I cant check the temps, just curious if heat is a problem on the memory modules at its current memory clocks. I want to know if cooling the memory modules are necessary or not in-terms of helping the switch's thermals overall with my suggested...

Hardware Cooling Memory Chips in Nintendo Switch?

Hey All, Switch - V2 - 2019. I'm planning to remove the shim covering the SoC and put thermal pads in between (on top of the modules so they touch the shim), hoping to dissipate heat. And then on top of the shim, between the shim and backplate so that the heat will be transferred to the...

Just curious, what was the actual docked resolution of the game?

Hardware Thermal Pad on Memory Modules and on top of the Shim?

So 0.5mm on NAND, 0.5mm on the heat-pipe and 1.5mm on the shim? Also I have some Thermal Putty (Zezzio ZT-PY6 13W/mk same as my 0.5mm pads), I think replacing the pad with the putty on the heat-pipe will be a better solution here. What do you think?

Hardware Thermal Pad on Memory Modules and on top of the Shim?

Thanks, are you sure its 1.5mm outside? I've been searching around and found that 1.0mm is enough. Thicker pads can bend the shield plate apparently. Edit : You can see that there is quite a bit of indent in the plate, so once flipped the gap is much closer to the shim. (Area marked in 3).

Hardware Thermal Pad on Memory Modules and on top of the Shim?

I would also like to do something like this to improve the Switch's thermal performance. I just want to know if its actually effective or maybe not all that required. Also would like to know the preferred thermal pad thickness for this. I like to juice every bit of performance out of this and I...

Hardware Switch stucked at logo screen after thermal paste change

I know I'm like 4 years late, but if you are online and see this comment, can you tell if the thermal pads on memory modules inside and outside the shim improved the temps?? what was the thickness you used?

Hardware Switch thermal mod made cooling worse?

Do you recommend thermal pads on top of the memory modules inside the shim? (between shim and memory module) and maybe outsite on top of the shim? I've seen people do that and I'm not sure if its effective or not.
