  • why aren't game engines as polished as games :(

In many cases polishing an engine would make it harder to make the game as the engine would be pushed down specific paths that the devs of any games might not care to go down.

but even just making the ui look as polished as any game's menu, or adding sound effects for doing different stuff would make the game engine feel more fun.
why did we even start using numbers in our usernames in the first place?

The original chosen original name was unavailable when I first registered under this alias. Or, a number was required, I don't know

but would every person naturally think to add a number to their username if it was taken or whatever? for example @banjo2, maybe you only put a number in your name, because putting numbers in usernames was standardized by other people doing the same. like if no one used numbers in their username, maybe you'd just find an alternative to "banjo"?

Not if you really want the name like "banjo", so you have to add a number. If it's taken people usually go for other names, but if they really want to use a particular name then they go the numbers route.
people: competition helps the consumers | also people: i hate the epic games launcher

ah, i messed up with the way i said it then. yeah it's more like epic is doing this to follow the plan to be competition to steam, eventually giving consumers the benefits of competition.

Epic games is not the only Major competition though. There is also Battle.net, Origin, and Ubisoft Connect, along with Beamdog and GOG.

@Megadriver94 true, though Epic Games seems to be the first competition to try to actively get in steam's way, by having exclusives and stuff. EA releases their stuff on Origin, but then releases a lot of it on Steam cause they're afraid to miss out on sales.
i wish there was a social media that made reposting more creator friendly.

Doesn't Twitter do that with retweets?

oh that's true yeah. though part of the reason why people make reposts on reddit is to get karma and stuff. so perhaps it'd also encourage people to share people's work if they'll also get some internet points because of it. in that case, even if you only share something for your own benefit, the creator is still getting exposure.

another thing that ik would be very hard to implement would be easy ways to check for the original. i know there's reddit bots that try to check for reposts, or maybe you could add a watermark to the content themselves. that would suck for people viewing the content, but is already done with memes anyways.

How is that a good thing?

i guess cause it's the opposite of being an impulse buyer and spending money quickly, but it sucks getting anxiety for buying the $1 game pass deal. i mean in the end i make a decision, but i don't like the process of making a decision cause i overthink of possible problems and such.

It isn’t really a good thing if you get so worked up over $1 purchases though-

    Not impulse buying is good
Being able to save is good

But saving too much is bad
Too many people save too much
Too many people grow old and have their life savings... then don’t know what to do with it or continue to save it
And too many people die with the majority of their life savings still in their account

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
why do i feel the sudden urge to start singing pirate's scorn from the donkey kong country cartoon?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
