    I don't think so-- the 3DS Hacks Guide (Google it, since I can't post links yet) has methods for installing CFW over any legit firmware version. Just find something compatible with your current setup. It looks like "Installing boot9strap (Soundhax)" is what you want if you don't own a flashcart...

    Welcome, welcome. And to add to ericgobbo's reply, if you'd like to run DS games off your 2DS without emulating them, look into ahezard's nds-bootstrap project. Works beautifully in conjunction with Robz8's Forwarder3-DS on my New! 2DS XL.

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
