If you have TWiLight Menu installed, then you can already run DS software at the faster DSi clock speed. Reportedly there is a substantial boost for the Gen IV Pokemon games.

You can DLDI patch and encrypt a homebrew with r4denc to make it the firmware of the Micro SD card. From there you can make a homebrew which boots "Mario Kart.nds" based on open source flashcard firmwares.
