So, at worst it's just going to be like ps3 where only certian models are really hackable. Just seems like everyone handled it poorly and now it's just a bunch of tension fueled by people not involved

Where have I heard this before? If they actually cared, likely they say, they would disclose so it could be fixed. Wish they would just say they are keeping it to preserve it for as long as possible.
Honestly should not expect a release until Deja Vu is fixed. As it's still exploitable on latest os, no reason to release. Also need the tools in place for custom content and a cfw (which i believe ScriesM is working on)
I imagine they have engineers racking their brains to figure it out. They do have clues where to look. Right now the biggest annoyance to Nintendo is having exploitable switches on store shelves. I think we may see them move semi quickly.
