Delta emulator now available on the App Store for iOS

Delta-Beta-logo-main-631243875.png

The time has finally come, and after many, many years (if not decades) of Apple users having to side load emulator apps into their iOS devices through unofficial stores (like AltStore), emulators are finally a reality in the official Apple Store for iOS devices.

The Delta emulator, the successor to the original GBA4iOS emulator, has just been officially added today to the Apple Store for iOS, with the emulator supporting the following consoles from the get-go:
  • Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
  • Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
  • Nintendo 64
  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Color
  • Game Boy Advance
  • Nintendo DS
The emulator also includes a wide variety of features expected from an emulator nowadays, like cheat support, save states, fast forward, controller support like Nintendo's JoyCons and Pro Cotrollers, Xbox One/Series and PlayStation 4/5 controllers (through Bluetooth), local multiplayer with up to 4 players at the same time, and even a featured called "Delta Sync", which syncs game data (saves, save states, cheats, etc.) between several devices, relying on Google Drive and Dropbox for the cloud service.

It's important to note that at the time of writing, Delta is currently not supported for iPad devices, and worse yet, Delta is unavailable in the EU, with the only option of getting Delta on iOS devices in the EU is through the AltStore.

Even a really old Android phone already does all this and better. 🤣

Imagine paying $1500 for a phone you can barely do anything because Apple decided for you.
wow, it's 2024 and we still try to persuade others what product is better and what is not, what does this and what does that, like WE are the company itself.
Don't get me wrong, but this is getting boring.

Huh ? the guy just stated that an old phone can do something better than a newer phone from another brand, not sure what's boring about it, unless you can prove him wrong ?

Huh?

It's a fact Apple locks down their phones and dictates what their users can run on it, so tell me how is it getting old making a comparison that a pretty damn old Android phone has more liberty to do as the user wants than an iPhone?

don't need to persuade android is better and has no restrictions you can do whatever you want unlike the crapple restricted garbage. the ONLY reason iphones are so popular is because of conformity! yeah well you know what I am not a sheep I can think for myself which seems to be people these days are losing that ability!

welcome to the world of emulation apple it only took you almost 2 decades. behind once again to android :creep:

I will admit personally that it's great to see people on twitter asking everywhere where people can get ROMs from. I thought most already knew this already 🤣

I also don't understand why people are happy to play DS games on iPhone for the reason of portability when the ds is LITERALLY THERE

How are we still fanboying over operating systems in 2024? It actually doesn't matter if someone prefers android, iOS, windows, Linux, or Mac. People have the right to choose what they like, and people getting more options is only a good thing. One isn't objectively "better" than another. It's entirely unnecessary to belittle others for the kind of phone they have. This is coming from an Android and Windows/Linux dual booster.

because like i said they can't think for themselves they have to do EVERYTHING on their shitty iphones

Can ds get wifi connection on the iPhone, I got the bios setup. Just wondering because the connection type is melon ds and I noticed it has an open connection. I think I read android could do this but I’m not sure yet if it’s the same for iPhone. I use to use a wifi repeater to get a wep key connection but wondering if that melon ds connection is enough and the dns is just not working. I only setup one dns since that’s all the wiimmfi website shows now for automatic dns.
Edit
I think I put the wrong dns I will try again seen it might be different for ds.
Edit
Maybe a wep key is still needed if this works on iPhone but that kind of defeats the purpose of the melon ds connection.
Where’s my wifi repeater for me to test this out or if someone has an android hotspot they could test this out and let everyone know if this works on iPhone.
I don't believe Wi-Fi will work since the melonDS build included is very out of date. (BIOS/firmware shouldn't even be required if it was using the latest version!)

Side note as well: I heard that this app is breaking the open source licenses of some of the emulators included... Especially because of the supporter-only perks like betas and iPad support.

I am a huge fan of Phone DS emulation for one simple concept, Speed up, as a busy guy with little to no time besides work and sleeping, i love playing sped up versions of games, i hate the grind, i hate to walk slow due to hardware limitations, i only need a horizontal controller

I would love to work within the hardware limitations that I got. The only thing that's beneficial is save stating but I assume that with a 3ds with Twilight Menu that should be the problem. It's so weird that everyone thinks that this si a ground breaking achievement for those that don't have Apple phones lol

The DS Lite is honestly my favorite iteration of the handheld, very sturdy, comfortable, and it's GBA BC if you'd ever want to play a GBA cart.

Plus, broken DS Lites can be recycled as a GBA Micro or what they're called. Pretty cool.

I agree! It's the best and the original way to play DS games. I remember having a blue original Hexagon DS.

Delta is unavailable in the EU, with the only option of getting Delta on iOS devices in the EU is through the AltStore
.... or, you know, just make an account for the US store. Can't expect Apple users to think that far I guess.

Anyway as others pointed out already: laughs in Android (and owning the respective consoles)

What do you mean by that?

At least iOS users aren't calling it "sideloading" (Apple wouldn't allow that no matter what).
Yes, sideloading it by way of using the Altstore

I still own my royal blue DS Lite and it still works after all these years...

It matters in the sense that some OSes can do more than others and that's just a fact. Not something we can agree or disagree, it's what it is.

What an odd comment to make, goin' from phones to women. 🤨
Except that isn't true. "Some oses do more than others" is not factual at all. All computers are 1s and 0s and logic gates that derive meaning from those bits. An operating system is the way we as humans interact with that bare metal hardware. In that regard, all OSes do the same thing. Where OSes differ, as far as the user is concerned, is their application support and how you interact with the interface. I like Windows for it's wide support of games and I am used to the interface. I use Linux to do tasks that work closer to the bare metal because the OS makes it easier to do that kind of fine tuning. My fiancee likes Mac OS because of it's integration with her other devices, and it's wide adoption in the creative space (primarily photo and video editing). Mac OS has too many annoying features for me to adopt, but I am jealous of how well many of the features work for those who enjoy them.

In summary, there is no one OS to rule them all. It literally is a matter of taste and what use cases you prioritize. If you think otherwise, that shows an ignorance of computers and an ignorance of other people (hence the touch of a woman comment).

And I know I've specified PC OSs here, but it's because there's a lot less to say about iOS versus Android. Maybe a decade ago it's a different story, but they are becoming more and more similar each year. It's a bit of a boring conversation actually.
