I don't have the option in router setting to change security settings, At least I think I don't, I don't know for sure but I don't have access to them right now. I have a USB wifi adapter for my PC, would that work?
A little late to the party but google fi helps eliminate the problem if you have one. Wirelessly connected it with the router using a WPA Security.

A little late but I used Google Fi to connect my hacked Wii U via wireless connection. From there it worked flawlessly and even reached to my vwii. From there I saved myself some of trouble going on right now.

As mentioned previously, it's not a security issue, it's that your router doesn't support B/G bands or you have B/G disabled.

My ISP modem/router does not have an option to use anything previous to N, so I took an old router I had from years ago, attached it to an open port on the ISP modem, logged into the old router, set up a wireless network with WPA2 on B+G bands, and turned off the DHCP server. Then connect to the new SSID with the Wii, works like a charm.
