I started with Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The game is fun. There are elements I don't understand. I hope you guys can answer my questions:

1.A question about research tasks. Do I need to catch a pokemon 25 times? What is the difference between a red checkmark and a yellow block. An example, I beat Starly 6 times. Block 6 is colored yellow but does not have a red checkmark. Why?

2.What are the benefits of moving to a higher rank? Is it mandatory in the game?

3.Is it possible to buy more space for my bag? The problem is that I come across items that I can't pick up because there isn't room.

4.Is it possible to fly/swim in the game? I'm working on request 22. I need to collect purple flames. In Obsidian Fieldlands there are purple flames that I can only reach if I can swim or fly

5.Why is an Alpha pokemon difficult to catch? I used 22 pokeballs to catch Kricketune. Are there any benefits to adding an alpha pokemon to your team? Do they have higher stats?

From what I recall from memory, some details might not be that accurate;

1. You DON'T need to fill out every block, basically each "block" is like a milestone for that specific task. Hitting that milestone gives you points each time you clear it so for example, catching 1 Starly would give you a set amount of points, then hitting the next milestone that are like catching 2, 4, 10, etc. gives you the same amount. Clearing each milestone gives you points that raise the Research Level for that specific pokemon and raising that level high enough fills out that pokemon's dex entry.

Important part is that you don't have to completely fill them out and doing other tasks for that pokemon like evolving, battling, using certain moves, etc. can give you different amounts of points. I think you do get an additional marking or symbol for clearing EVERY task (mainly there for completionists) but nothing else, which I never bothered trying to do due to it being very repetitive and boring.

2. Higher rank is mandatory to progress story and you also unlock a few extra types of Pokeballs that have different ranges they can be thrown at. Think you also unlock some other resources to help with catching pokemon as well, but it's mainly a roadblock.

3. You can buy more space. There's a guy you can talk to at HQ that upgrades your inventory space, except the main issue is that it gets very expensive and a bit tedious since they only let you get one extra slot at at time. So you can't just add as many slots that you can afford at the moment, so it's just a cycle of "talk to person, ask to upgrade bag, add one additional slot".

4. You do eventually get access to the ability to swim and "fly" by progressing story and reaching new areas that require them.

5. They're harder to catch because they're "Alphas" I guess. Aside from their size, they do technically have better stats than regular pokemon because they have higher Effort Levels (things that affect a pokemon's stats) and they sometimes have moves they don't normally learn in the wild.

Thank you for answering my questions. This will help me.

I will search for the guy in the HQ, so I can see what price he asks
