  • Elden Ring is amazing. Makes me wish the souls games had some kind of easy or fair mode because I was never able to enjoy any of the earlier soulslike games due to hating how unfair they felt

Tell me about it; because items are wholly disabled, and benches no longer restore MP, magic of any kind cannot be spammed in Hard - if you run out, you have to wait for it to slowly regen, instead of just using an Ether. The disabled-items restriction also makes vending machines and treasure chests largely worthless, as well. Not a fan of this, nope.

Due to this, the "best" way to heal mid-combat is the inconsistent Chakra (heals up to 40% of remaining damage - so the closer you get to full HP, the less it heals you), or Pray, which consumes 2 ATB bars (and thus can't be spammed). Cure spells can be used too...if you have spare MP, that is.

And since everything has inflated HP numbers, especially bosses, fights take much longer to finish and are thus much more frustrating, especially with them hitting so much harder and far more frequently as well. Heck, being stun-locked by attacks is much more common than in Easy/Normal, just adding to the pain.

I stopped using after I completed my tree and just talk to people in my target language now, I think it is more effective

@x65943 the only reason I actually started duolingo is because years ago you put a post on your profile about your duolingo streak and I thought "huh that would be cool to have" :rofl2:

i feel like i learned nothing in the last 900 days of it though

It's a really great way to start learning a language from scratch, but I learned myself you have to pivot to other things once you get a grasp of the language

Ultimately producing and receiving the language are paramount - I use an app called hellotalk to practice Chinese - there are probably similar spaces for any target language

Reading simple graded readers was also super helpful to me
What would happen if I were to, hypothetically, create 17.3 billion GBAtemp accounts simultaneously

I'd have no idea how to write that script - I don't know any programming languages - but in theory that sounds possible, at least to me.

you'd have to make 17.3 billion different e-mail adresses at that.
It's not just GBAtemp accounts one needs to create ; )

Assuming 1000 accounts per second (very generous), it would take ~200days of nonstop hammering of the database to create that much.
Although, I think disk space issues would soon arise before reaching half-way.

I still need to do my move from Windows to Linux soon cause now the brains of all of them are now tied to AI and implementing it inside of Windows.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Makes it easy for incompetent restaurant staff that don't know how to hear an order
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

    > Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc)

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Most manufacturers pack it well enough where they aren't that dumb to let it happen

They building a new Microcenter store near by me, is kinda scary. That's my favorite place, I'm like a kid in a candy store there.
