While I can install alternative software to load stuff onto an iPhone at home, I can't do that on my work computer. With my android phone I don't have to worry about having to install any additional programs to transfer files to it.
The upgradable part is mainly in regards to desktop...
While most of the components in a laptop can't be replaced without totally replacing the main board or completely disassembling the laptop, there are a few things that you can upgrade. I have replaced/upgraded the hard drive, ram and wireless card in laptops before.
While you are right that being a closed ecosystem allows Apple to fine tune software for their hardware better than others, I still don't see why I have to pay a large premium for a Mac when I could buy a Windows/Linux computer or even build one that performs the same or better and looks great...
I just recently upgraded my main computer to Windows 10 and then did a clean install, it was due for one for a while now but never got around to it.
Only encountered a problem with my Creative X-Fi sound card, which showed up as installed and working but no sound would come out of the speakers...
Check to see if there is anywhere under the device manager properties page for both the usb wireless adaptor and hotspot itself to set the mac address. Also if the usb adaptor came with any software you can check there as well.
Try applying the macshift command to the hotspot itself.
i.e, use this command
macshift -i "Wireless Network Connection 4" 4E53504F4F46
Then start the hotspot connection
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Go into the properties page for the usb wireless adaptor and head to the sharing tab. In the sharing tab tick the box next to "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". Then under the drop down menu under "Home networking connection" select "Wireless...
Run the macshift command again exactly as i have listed below, make sure that you don't put any quotation marks around the mac address
macshift -i "Wi-Fi" 4E53504F4F46
Then enable the hotspot again and check the mac address.
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
On the status window for the wireless hostpot click on "details" and check that the MAC address (i.e. Physical Address) that it is using is the same as the one you set.
If it is the same then on your 3DS go into "system settings", "internet settings" and then "connection settings". In here add...
Now enter the following command into the command prompt window
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Then check to see that icon in the network connections window for the wireless hotspot (i.e. "Wireless Network Connection 4" in your case) no longer has that red cross and you can see the SSID of...
In the command prompt window after "C:\Users\Sue>" you just need to put in "cd Desktop/Homepass" so the line in command prompt will look like this before you press enter
C:\Users\Sue>cd Desktop/Homepass
Then after you press enter the new line that appears should be this...
Use the following command to change the path in the command prompt window so that it points to that folder.
cd Desktop/HomePass
The text before the ">" should now read "C:\Users\Sue\Desktop\HomePass"
You will need to navigate to the folder you extracted the contents of the zip file to in the command prompt window first before using the machshift command.
i.e. If you extracted the contents of the zip file to a folder on your desktop then the path should look like this -...
Open your network connections window and you should see your usb wireless adaptor listed as well as a your wireless hotspot. Take a note of what they are both called as you will need that information later on.
Now download macshift (http://devices.natetrue.com/macshift/macshift.zip) and unzip...
Open up a command prompt window with administrator privileges and enter the following command.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=password
Replace "password" with something of your choosing or you can leave it as it is, this will be the password set for the wireless...
You will need to create a wireless hotspot using the USB wireless adaptor that has a SSID of "attwifi", it is not necessary to rename the connection as "Wi-Fi". Next share your internet connection from the network adaptor that you used to connect to the internet to the wireless hotspot. You then...
