I'm sure some fans will do voice acting.
If it's just for the HOLD IT and OBJECTION this should be okay. But "fan dub" is such a horrible phrase...
But there already are official "Hold it", "Objection" and "Take That" in the first AAI.
Couldn't they just reuse those?

But we'd be stuck with the Japanese voices for other characters that weren't present in the first.
Good point. Well I actually think the person below your post is right when he says it's okay to keep the Japanese voices. As long as we put in the speech bubble graphics from the previous English version, it's a small thing to just hear one word every so often in the "wrong" language.

Our philosophy regarding this is that, despite the Japanese voices being way more epic (perfect example: Lang's "Not so Fast!", which is "Amaina!" in Japanese, search them and compare them), we want the translation to look as official as possible. That's why we'll be reusing as many graphics from the first AAI as possible (I mean buttons, bubbles and such).

Sorry if it upsets some people, but hey, we'll try to find the most epic voice actors the Internet can give us. Hell, we've even got the Phoenix Wright Musical Project close to us, so we could even ask them for assistance!

Anyway, wouldn't it be possible to release a version with English voices and a version with Japanese voices?
Should make everyone happy.

Best of luck on this. The moment I heard that Capcom was going to pass on this I just knew hardcore fans would do the work for them.

One problem: I hear edgy has a new phrase.
Are you going to use a voice manipulating program for that?

Definitely agree with this; however, it's all up to you.

Capcom, as much as I love you, you fail on this. You better release crossover Layton game!!

To Courts Records, I wish you all good luck in the translation!

As Edgeworth's fan, I think I should contribute something to this project.
So, here you go. Take this!

AAI2's table file (including all Kanji's)

I might have missed something, so if you spot any missing characters, let me know.

That's a fucking good work you did !
You have all my thanks (from Court Records and AAI French translation team too).
