Yeah, each extra villager means the codes changed

I'm also having this problem, 0 bells in the ADB.
I also tried using NHSE to change the bell value, which had the same thing happen. I even tried lowering the bell amount in that and every attempt resulted in 0.

Edit:
Didn't disable the code before editing the save. Will try again later and see what happens.

NHSE works fine, it was indeed the code.

I don't think it has ever been the same for p2 inventory

For those who use P2. You can easily DIY by searching the quantity in the inventory slot. It is represented as quantity-1. Note that P2 item 20 has a break in address. So search for item 1 and item 20 to find the offsets then just increment them for all 40 slots. To illustrate, place say some stone in slot 1, search for the quantity -1, pick one away now search again, add it back and search again after a few search you will find Heap + AD4FBB54. Now do that for slot 20 and you will find Heap + AD4FBA9C.

If this is the case then you probably have more than one player on your Island and this is probably getting hit with the same effect that the inventory slot count is so if you have only one player on your Island and you are playing as that player this code should give you the max Bells
