Hello, i've been looking for a 3rd generation pokemon rom hacking tool, i want to edit dialog text, pokedex and pokemon names, for the last two ones there is YAPE, and the first one there is Advance text, but sadly it is not working for me, is there any other tool better than advance text ? thank you :)

Have you tried this to make Advance Text work?

1) Download comdlg32.ocx
2) Extract it to Windows/System32
3) Start -> Run, type in

regsvr32 %Systemroot%\System32\comdlg32.ocx

If you're using Windows Vista you need to do something a little different.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt -> right-click, "Run as Administrator". If you're not the admin for your computer then you're going to need to get admin permission in order to continue. The command prompt should open up. Enter the same code as above.

If successful you should get

DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\System32\comdlg32.ocx succeeded.

You also might have to run Advance Text as Admin as well to make it work, that's how I got it to work when I had Windows 7.

Also Advance Text is the best Pokemon GBA text editor that I know of, I have tried most of them and they don't work as well as that one.

I had the same problem, but when I tried the regsvr32 fix, I got the following error:

"The module 'C:\Windows\System32\comdlg.ocx' failed to load
Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or independent .DLL files.
The specified module could not be found."

(running Windows 8.1 x86 (32-bit))

Thanks, and I hope to hear about a solution soon.

I actually found a better fix on a Microsoft forum.

2.- don't install the .msi, but "Extract to" (winzip, winrar, 7-zip, ...) some folder
3.- open a Command Prompt as "Administrator" (Windows key, type CMD, right click, open as administrator)
4.- change current directory to SYSTEM, not SYSWOW64, not SYSTEM32, yes, just SYSTEM
5.- copy files from folder created in step 2.-, all files if you are not sure
6.- regsvr32.exe mscomctl.ocx and hit enter
7.- regsvr32.exe comctl32.ocx and hit enter
8.- regsvr32.exe comdlg32.ocx and hit enter
