Hardware Anyone please tried USB-Type C mod for 3DS (XL) ?

Hi. I still love my old 3DS. I found some guides on internet to mod 3DS and replace the archaic power port with USB-C port!

Did any member already try this idea? Is it feasible for the average person (with a simple soldering iron and wire?)

Saw people here do it with MicroUSB but have not seen anyone do it with USB-C I think. Same principle though.
Based on that video, doesn't look like it would be too difficult. If you have no soldering experience I would not start with something so small though, practice on something slightly easier. The pads on the 3DS board itself are nice and big so you are less likely to ruin those, if you ruin the pads on the breakout board then no big deal as you probably have 5 of them (5 is the minimum order for custom PCBs on PCBWay IIRC, dunno about others) and if you ruin the connector somehow, those are pretty cheap, so you can't really do much wrong. Do use flux though.

I am practicing now some soldering and searching for more information about 3DS. Apparently USB-C connector is usually bigger and taking more space than Micro USB one, so Micro USB is fine if I can do it correctly.

Maybe any Micro USB connector will work? I just have to solder positive and negative board pins?

Hi friend. I have the same concern and I'm still looking for more information.
On Amazon page some customer said the kit worked with N3DS, but I wouldn't recommend soldering it yourself since you can easily damage motherboard.

My question is the usb-c charge cable going supply too much power to the 3ds. I know whe n I charge my phone it's on fast charge with the type c cable. Just don't want to fry my 3ds.

fast charge is something i think thats programmed to cell phones. but other than a usb to the normal port on the 3ds, i wouldnt wanna try to plug it into anything else, the second it surges the 3ds, your gonna have a useless console.

I don't get why anyone would do this when USB-to-3DS charging cables are still dirt cheap and come with practically-zero risk of damaging anything.
