Hacking backup wii game save data

Hello this is my first post here and I was wondering if it's possible to save your gamesave data from games such as super smash brothers brawl which won't let you copy it to an sd card.

My launch wii recently malfunctioned and I had to send it in to nintendo to be repaired, they sent me a refurbished wii with none of my data

except the few game saves I could copy to an sd card. I don't want this to happen again so any info would be much appreciated. TIA
