I know a lot of people won't share this view
My complaints are

Framerate issues, when playing pokemon black the transitions are fine but in soul silver they are a little choppy

Blurry look the 3ds softens the games to make them a bit blurry

No option to make the game fit the top screen fully

Also only on ds and dsi games colors look washed out

Don't worry everything will be fixed on the new 3DSi Lite XL.
[/JOKE]

Screen look blurry because of the interpolation, pressing start+select before running a ds games permits to play ds games on native ds resolution, but the screens are extremely small.

And actually if people have bought 3DS to play DS games they have missed the point...

Backwards compatibility is always the best when using same screen resolution (height x width in pixels). If you have to add pixels to the equation, the screen may become blurry, which may seem to be the case here..

Maybe they'll update the firmware to support the DS mode better (or perhaps not)..

Then play them 1:1

Then play them 1:1

Who would want to destroy the game's original aspect ratio? A moron? Oh I see.

They use the same colours so I have no idea where you're getting this from.

Over at 3DS Blog he seems not to have a problem with it:

As he shows later in the video, you can play the game in the native resolution if you want to by hitting select. Or, if you hate it so much, you could keep playing them on the ds.

Are you using a flash cart or the real genuine cart? I just wanna throw that out. The framerate issue might be because of a crappy microSD, that is if you are using a flashcart.

Also, more side-by-side images between DS and 3DS games would be really helpful. Maybe test on games like Ninja Gaiden or The World Ends With You, where the former will show the really graphical side and the other for sharpness.

Meh. Doesn't affect me as I'll be keeping my DS Lite anyway. My Cyclo DS Evo won't work on the 3DS so if I trade in my Lite I lose pretty much every DS game ever created. And that's just stupid. Besides, the system's only worth about £30 trade-in. Sod that, I'll just work an extra shift.

This is not "blur", this is upscaling. Going from 256x192 to 320x240 you cannot do any better.

When it comes to backwards compatibility, Sony and Apple did their job much better - simply doubling the screen resolution. PSP games played on NGP will be sharp and pixel-perfect.

How the hell would they achieve this ? DS and 3DS have different screen aspects. It's like watching 16:9 movies on an old 4:3 screen: you either loose part of the picture, introduce black borders, or stretch it unnaturally.

That's the other side of the coin. I can't understand people whining about backwards compatibility and jerking off over some flashcards working on 3DS in DS mode. 90% of them have already had DS-es for many years and beaten all these DS games to death...

I saw footage of DS games on the 3DS, and it looks BETTER, not worse. o.o''
The colours are more sharper and brighter aswell as smoother. Like R2DJ said, maybe its your SD card. The game plays perfectly on retail.

Footage doesn't count. They always fiddle with video to make it look better/sharper/smoother/more colorful.

This is one of those times where you think 'trolls like me should stick to sections where we'll be agreed with.'

You know, 'cos the NGP can play DS games at all...

If you'd read the thread, you'd know there are non/unavoidable issues.

the point of playing shitty launch titles?

Sorry, what?

The launch titles are mostly terrible?

Say again, Marine?
Most of them aren't terrible, but none of them aren't must have. Mostly only getting a launch game for my 3DS to see what it can do (and for coins). I've already purchased 2 versions of SF4 and not everyone is into Samurai Warriors (Street Fighter on the go sounds tempting though). I'll have to see how Steel Diver turns out, or it will be nintendogs because it'd be easier for others if they wanted to play it. I'll mostly be using my flashcart on my 3DS until June (when the games that interest me will "supposedly" be released).
